Besides the obvious reason we're pissed off (the obvious reason being the content of Packer's talk), Packer's comment came in the midst of a rash of highly publicized gay youth suicides. Now, that being said, I don't think the number of gay youth suicides have increased dramatically from say, a year ago, but they are receiving a lot more media attention, which is a double-edged sword, and a rant

While I was getting ready for work this morning, I was watching the morning news on channel 2 in Utah. They were running a story about this I LOVE BOYD K. PACKER facebook page. They said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "most of the comments on this page are supportive of Elder Packer, there are only a few disparaging comments being posted." While this sound bite is playing, they have closeu

The Mormons I have on my Facebook have either been really pissed off at BKP for it, or have remained completely silent.

Our Ward Diva was Loriann. Wore WAY too much makeup, teased her hair WAY too big and dressed like a Mormon hooker, and was convinced she was a soprano but I'd venture to say low alto was probably a comfortable range for her. This woman had a vibrato that could trigger a shift in the Wasatch fault line.

August 13, 2010 _____________________________________________________________ I was moved today to write this. This letter is NOT written from my own personal perspective or experience, but from the point of view of the many young gay men and women who have chosen to end their own lives because they were unable to reconcile who they chose to love with their religion. This, of course, comes ju

...the older we get, the more difficult it is to be honest with who we are, just because we've lived life differently for so long. The self-destructive behavior that your sister was involved in is unfortunately all too common. I went through it myself before I came out, but I came out the other side a much stronger person. I offer this up to everyone who is coming out and coming to terms w

Don't be embarrassed about coming out in your 40's. Everyone has their own time to do it, and that just happened to be yours. I think it's great!

...and helping him or her position the gun to their head and goading them to pull the trigger. All this bullshit the LDS has been pouring out about "we love the gays, and we don't advocate trying to 'change' them" all the while swimming around in this Prop 8 garbage was just negated. BKKKP explicitly and without hesitation said that all gay people can become straight if they try hard

Hey guys- Just wanted to give you a quick update about how DH's cardiologist appointment went. The MRI looked great. The doc said open heart surgery isn't necessary at this point. They may do another catheter ablation or they may just go straight to the mini-MAZE procedure which is endoscopic and very non-invasive. So hooray!
