My newly exmo husband missed Bednar's pickle talk and is curious about the references here. Can someone supply the link? Also wasnt it his wife who gave the talk on modesty and showing every bump? Link?

Yet, possibly the most insidious residue from the Reagan Years was the concept of manipulating information – what some Reagan officials liked to call “perception management” – as a means of societal control I thought this quote about the Reagan administration could hold meaning here applied to the church. Perception management= lying for the lord/

My husband has a story he may unfold here as catharsis. It was a long time coming which may speak to some people or may annoy others. and he will likely be surprised with the lack of patience of some to his 'slow learnedness'. Ha. But I think he will tell it in installments and it is interesting in the scheme of RFM, in the psychology for those of you interested in such. I rarely told any of

I am Lilith's New Husband, whom many here know about. Sent 1st resignation letter per the format given here to Dodge/membership dept. Did to me what they are doing to you, and forwarded letter to WRONG local authorities, even though I clearly included correct new address. Got Christmas card from the bish, so sent a second letter to Dodge reiterating the fact that I had resigned with my 1st let

Reading the books of Marcus Borg, a progressive Christian may be a gentler way to help some people see their way out of the LDS where jumping into the atheists or Sagan, etc may be feared. Ive seen it work.

The New Husband sent his name removal request letter to member records in SLC. He received the Greg Dodge letter telling him to pursue this at the local level and that they had forwarded it to them. What did we do wrong and what do we do now? We used the letter suggested here on the board.

If you send a letter to SLC, is it to the address in the resignation section of this site, or is there a Greg Dodge separate address?

Recently saw a post regarding name removal/resignation by email. I can't find it now. Did anyone save it, or is anyone familiar with how this can be done?

I found this book to be one of the most important reads for the decade. I just finished reading Guns,Germs and Steel (finally) recently so just want to keep the recommends going on this board--much better than the temple sort.

our record as a couple was 14 on the wedding night. But we are not mormmon so you still hold that record. Hey so actually in a 24 hour period, the number might be higher. Hmmm. (but we only had three kids--practice practice practice)

The cold feet moment the Mutt speaks of was the hold the church still held over him at the time. Its an Evil Church and operates on fear of loss of 'salvation'..whatever that is. But we beat it through good communication and a close unwavering friendship. Maybe someday he'll want to tell his LDS church story. Right now he wants nothing more to do with 'them'. I understand that.

And Im marrying the mormon man who was the reason I came here to learn to understand him. I guess I should say he is well on the way to being exmormon so you dont give me all the RUN advice. I decided to post this mostly for anyone who might remember me or my story over time. He was a convert as a young adult and we knew each other before he was LDS. This may have helped our situation, but it was

"But, how much does it matter? If there is a God, would you change your actions? I wouldn't. If there's a God, God created me, and so I'm going to go ahead and just plug along with whatever desires God gave me already." Isnt this the core of it? Why would you change your actions if there is a God? Whats all this made in his image stuff if that image doesnt include integrity?

I agree with Alan. If God reveals Herself to me, Id have to decide if I accepted depending on what God revealed. Are you assuming the Mormon God? The Christian God? So the answer to the question is depends on what God turned out to BE. God of Vengeance? no God of Rules from Hell? no God of My Way or the Highway? no Of course if God turned out to be the God of My Creative Imagination,
