I don't know of one church family or in law family member on my husband's side who has left. I'm the lone exmo. I was a convert in 2001, married a Mormon (not in the temple) and left in 2010 alone. I appear to be highly ineffective, and no one appears to question their faith choices due to my leaving, not even a little. I keep waiting to see at least one person I know leave, and it has not ha

They lie all the time in the form of pleading ignorance. My own husband does it at every opportunity, and my former Mormon friend pleaded ignorance quite often. I even caught her in a few. They act like they don't know or that it is too sacred so that they don't have to talk about it.

Just shows how hungry they are to hear something new from them to help freshen their mind numbingly bland faith. If you at vanilla pudding for months, and then got to have chocolate pudding for a meal, it would taste like heaven.

Should you really force your spouse's eyes open? I used to think I should but finally came to acceptance that he believes in it. I did too once. I changed the game. This is the belief he knows and is comfortable with. I don't feel good when my husband has to feel defensive just because this is his faith. He can believe it in peace. I understand though exactly what you are saying. I get distur

They get mad also because we messed up the plan. In my husband's case, I ruined any chance of being an eternal family. Since we were never sealed in the temple and now he is serious about Mormonism, he is held back because he can't be sealed to our daughter without me, apparently.

I was raised Protestant so I have the answer. They do not seem to worship. During sacrament there aren't that many who have their eyes closed praying. They don't sing songs directly to Jesus or HF, they sing "about" but not "to". They do not lift their hands or voices to God in praise. So my feeling is in general, they don't have much to work with in their meetings to worship

Your husband made such a great point. People don't go around declaring now I believe this, now I believe that. Faith is a private matter. To make a big announcement, it is like you are confessing to a sin and gives them power to judge you. In my opinion, you did it the right way. You casually brought it up when you had to. Either way, whether making it formal or casual, will bring them equal

Fighting for equality anywhere, anytime is never pointless. A lot of the articles out there in the media highlight the church as uncaring of women and LGBT. I have also noticed in the past few years a greater acceptance for women who choose work outside the home, then the opening prayer in GC by a woman, and hanging women leaders on walls alongside men, etc. all of these are baby steps and th

I would imagine people who really cared about their fellow man had a hard time with polygamy, opposition to women's movement for equal rights, treatment of blacks as not valiant in preexistence, and poor treatment and lack of acceptance LGBT people. Any person fighting and siding for civil rights would see the church stands in the way of progress. Another thing I would think people would

Every few years they get together and decide who needs to go. Then they contact the stake president who then contacts the whipping boy and the punishment is executed. This is how I think it might work. Maybe they chose Kate's old ward bishop so that her present ward won't be pissed at their bishop for carrying out the nasty order.

I get what you are saying. Don't you think it is just you asserting yourself? You don't have anyone but yourself to answer to for your life now. So it isn't like you have to put up with the same stuff from people that you did before. I am way stronger. I don't put up with the Shiitt anymore that I did before. I expect to also be served back now instead of just serving. I am more liberated. C

It is sad when a couple cannot lay down together and face one another and be able to look one another in the eyes and feel at home there. If you do not have this, then both people are just filling a role. When one ceases to fill that roll any longer then there is nothing left. You had no intimate relationship to begin with as the priority was to honor an outside entity together, not to honor one
