I finally let my kids eat coffee ice-cream. I had been out for almost fifteen years. I kept asking my husband "are you SURE it is okay?" He is very patient with me and finally said "why wouldn't it be?" I realized it was just the brain washing. I feel like I am almost completely free. It is a slow process.

One time my mom told me that she put my name on the prayer list "so if you feel some extra help you now know why." Gag. I didn't.

I think a lot of TBM parents do

Change her ring tone in your phone to silent. That way she has to leave a message and you can call her back when you feel strong enough to deal with her. Only call her back as often as you desire, wether that is once a day or once a week.

Was there a talk about flip flops? I am asking because my sis use to wear them to church then one day my tbm mom did not want her to any more. I think they compromised on how often she could.

This reminds me of a story my sis told me. She and her friends use to hide in the bathroom to avoid early morning seminary. Once a member (not the teacher) was at the building from dropping of his kids. He would open the door over and over, call out poke his head in and wave his arms around inside. Yelling they needed to go to class. We still can't believe how inappropriate a grown man yelli
