Mormons DO NOT have gay friends. They are either 1) lying or 2) delusional. I'm sorry but a person does not think their "friend's" very existence is an abomination. Or that they should be 2nd class citizens because they aren't as good as you. I have a TBM friend who constantly talks about how open-minded she is. I finally called her out on it - I said ya know if you were really o

My TBM in-laws are always throwing their money away on pyramid schemes. I've been propositioned twice now (one time for ACN, the other was Primerica). I don't get it. They've done so many, like starting back with Amway and Quiksttar and have failed every time. Yet some charasmatic dude comes along selling them a get rich quick fantasy and they buy it hook, line and sinker. They still haven

I feel so bad for you guys! My TBM DH loved it when I ditched the Gs. They are just God awful. I can't understand how women can stand them. They are horribly uncomfortable (esp when you're preggo in the summer in AZ! Ugh!) Clearly there was no female input in the design. Plus no control over what you can wear, gah! Anyway... I agree with Piper. Express what you do like about her without the ga

Fad from pottery barn. Very trendy in the MorCor, at least where I'm at. TBM women all decorate their homes the same here. It's creepy. Very Stepford.

My reading comprehension is fine. If you go back and re-read your post you will see you didn't say you attended your daughter's civil wedding. I get that you chose to not attend because you do not accept or condone your daughter's choices with regards to the church. I just don't agree with those actions. I apologize for the "mother of the year" comment and for causing you offense

Paying off credit card debt and building up savings. It's amazing how much faster I am accomplishing my financial goals now that I'm not throwing my money away to the church. It literally makes me sick thinking how much money I gave to the Morg. Worst. Financial. Decision. Ever. Forgot to add that we were able to go to Hawaii in March because I was actually able to save up for it. What's si

As someone who joined the church as a teenager I can assure you that all the crap doctrine and history don't matter as long as the church is fulfilling some need in her life that isn't being met. For me, my father abandoned our family and my parents were getting a divorce. My parents were so preoccupied fighting eachother that us kids were left to fend for ourselves. Plus, the boy I liked w

1964. re-baptism
I have a friend (well more an acquaintance) that is getting re-baptised. She said she wasn't ex'd but that her ward she was baptised in originally had lost her baptism records. This sounds strange to me. Don't they have all those records at the COB? Or perhaps her baptism record never made to SLC all those years ago?

Joined 1995 as a teenager. Disaffected 2008 over political and cultural issues. That lead me to do more in depth research on the church and after discovering the true history and doctrine, I was totally out before 2009.

I think this is great news! Keep the crazy contained as much as possible! I could NEVER live in Utah, even as a TBM I hated the culture there. Even that accent makes me cringe. *shudders*

This post made me smile because I did the exact same thing! The day I purged all my grandma clothes was one of the happiest days of my life! I am horrified that I looked so frumpy during my 20's. Plus I'm really petite and the Molly uniform couldn't be more wrong for my body. Ugh. Anyway, I got rid of: All my long shorts Capris Undershirts/layering shirts from Impel, Modbe and all those Mo

Ok I totally LOL'd when I read the subject line. I would found myself thinking the same thing when I went to church! I think it has a lot to do with where you live though. In my experience the Mormons in Michigan looked WAY worse than Mormons in AZ. Maybe it's the weather or dominance of church culture out west? In the MorCor (at least where I am) the members take great pride in their looks. The

Yeah, I think they learned their lesson from BY and BRM to NEVER say what they really mean. Then they could actually be held accountable for it, and they DO NOT want that!
