I am soooooooo sorry to hear what you have been through, that is so scary and sad... I think the church is false. But even still, there are nice bishops, and there are bishops that are just JERKS!!!! Before I left the church, I had a TBM friend who was also raped by a gang of 5 men when she was 12. They broke into her house while her parents were away for the weekend. 2 years year afte

I just say, "You know, everyone thinks that Islam is a strict religion... But you Mormons are even less forgiving and accepting to other religions than Islam. At least Islam believes there are 3 acceptable religions inspired by God that they will recognize: 1. Islam 2. Christianity 3. Judaism They believe it all came from the same source, and any true believer of any of these 3

They switch companions frequently for several reasons. But the biggest reasons are: 1--To make the missionaries more socially "rounded", they feel it helps them mature better as adults to work hand-in-hand with lots of different people. 2-- To keep missionaries from forming personal relationships that are "too close". Either with their companions, or with the people t

Well, that's a major pet peeve of mine-- people assuming that because you left the church, you stopped believing in god. Or you HAVE to stop believing in God. True, some people stop believing in god when they leave, because they figure if the church is false, maybe everything is false. But just like the rest of life-- everything is not all black and white. Some things are false, while other

Most of the Mormon churches I've been to had a mother's lounge either as an off shoot of the women's bathroom, or as a separate room. There was a closing door, a changing table and some rocking chairs to sit in. Nobody ever cared if a mother nursed in there. But they really should be grateful that women have the consideration to cover up with a blanket in the first place! Some people really

Well, all this means is that American missionaries can't be assigned to Switzerland. This will not stop door-to-door missionaries in Switzerland all together though... There are still LDS churches over there, and the chruch is likely to suggest that after Switzerland's home-bred missionaries pass through the MTC, they can simply keep their own guys to serve at home, just send them to different

The thing is, you have to remember that the church not being true DOES NOT give you license to cast aside the concept of right and wrong. Also, not believing in that particular denomination does not necessarily mean there's no god... Religion or no--- murder is still bad. Stealing is still bad. Hurting or betraying people you love is still bad. So its basically time to decide EXACTLY ho

I think at LEAST that many would do it. Of the TBM's anyway. Its really sad, because on the regular LDS board, I was watching a discussion on weather or not the rumors were true that the church was buying up land and building so many temples in as many places as possible in order to create "safe places" for (garment wearing/worthy only) Mormons to go when the end finally comes. O

You know you are somewhat brainwashed when you think this is ok. Nobody has the right to ask you what kind of underwear you have on and when, or if you "touch yourself".

Actually, I prefer it if they say "Do you have a problem with masturbation?", because I can say no honestly--- I don't have a problem with it, I think its perfectly healthy and normal! And I'm quite comfortable with it. So... Problem? No, not at all, lol.

Well I think he means by Mormon standards, because according to Mormons, there IS something wrong with all those things. Although I personally say--- Who cares what Mormons have to say about any of that? None of it is true anyway!

Somebody just marched into our forum and cut a bona fide BRAIN FART!!! Besides, if its the morg you're talking about, well.... I'll be blunt. The only way I will ever go back is if they: 1-- Cut out tithe, or at least greatly reduce it so members can actually SURVIVE. 2-- Learn to acknowledge the fact that their history is twisted and dark too, like every other religion out there that'

Well, you could always try dressing up all nice like a missionary, then going to THEIR doors, with some Anti-Mormon Literature in your hand, and start by saying, "Yes, hello. Did you know that Joseph Smith had (x amount of) wives?" (List their names from the online web pages). Then, "Did you know that there is no decent DNA evidence to back up the claims of the book of M

The morg treated me the same way. But not because of infertility, it was because I chose not to have kids (yet). I have never gotten pregnant in my life. I'm actually not sure weather or not I've had infertility issues, or weather we have just been "lucky" up to now. Wanting to get pregnant, you probably would not agree with the word "lucky". But my man and I actually

I cannot tell you how many stories I have heard about young missionaries not even having enough money to feed themselves, because the church recently started rapidly cutting down on what they could spend. this one couple had to go get their son, because they tied to send him money for food, and he got yelled at for accepting extra money, thanks to his rat-out companion! A lot of wards expect

I know, they say we have all these "duties". Well isn't it your duty as a parent or a spouse to support and care for the people living in your home? If I have to pay a little extra to be in a safer neighborhood, you better believe I will! lol. What good does it do to save money when you get shot, mugged, or robbed?

I remember the last time I explained to the local bishop (back when I was still attending 6 months ago) that we really cannot afford tithe. He suggested to me that perhaps it was because my husband and I were "living beyond our means." Um... Ok... Or maybe THE CHURCH could chill the hell out with tithe, if it wasn't living beyond ITS means with enormous, lavish temples that co

I think it would be funny as heck if a bunch of us (who still haven't sent in our resignation letters yet) all grouped together and sent in our resignation letters either by snail mail or email on New Years, lol. Talk about a resolution :)

I agree, you should give other guys a chance during these two years. Besides, if you look at the statistics, chances are pretty small that you will both still want to marry each other by the end of these two years. Here is a quote from a "waiting for my missionary" web page: "Only 3% of girls who plan on waiting for their missionary actually end up marrying him." I str

But also, I think the book would be a better success if it were written in such a way that it did not try to completely denounce or disprove God or religion in general. Only this particular church. Because some people really love the idea of God, but they just don't agree with how the LDS church goes about representing him (like me).

You could boldly yet simply and directly title the book "Recovery From Mormonism". I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to write! I have already written like 4 books (2 romances and a couple of biographies). Writing a book like this seems like an interesting project. It would be fairly easy, you wouldn't even need a publisher! You could simply write it as an eBook, and maybe sell it on your blog (

Quite frankly, I just don't give a sh** what the church thinks of me. I have decided that sending in a resignation, is like acknowledging that they ever owned you in the first place. Or that they have the power to accept or reject you. Well they don't! You just thought they did, and so did they. You're acknowledging that the membership was "real" at any point. It wasn't.
