The youth programs take up so much time and money from the church and I bet you anything they will start combining more things to consolidate. I think it would be hilarious if they combined nursery and even primary with RS because isn't that supposed to be the highest calling of women?? Men should be out there making the big decisions, not getting some brat to stop crawling under their chair!

I'm digitizing a bunch of stuff for a relative who loves to do storytelling in the classic Mormon talk style. She had a bunch of audio tapes of various talks she wrote for classes. One of the tapes is a super long winded, uber righteous speech about chastity. As I listened for where I should cut blank spaces, I heard something very different from her Relief Society golden voice. She must have rec

So I was just targeted by a sponsored Facebook post in Utah County with this. It's a movie "inspired by an Iriquois legend" about 2000 warriors burying their weapons for peace. This kickstarter is being run by Stewart Marriott, of I'm sure, THE Marriotts of Mormon legend, who is also CEO of the All Nations Cultural Center which is being modeled after the Polynesian Cultural Center. I try to commune with my dead grandparents from time to time. Basically just asking how they're doing and channeling their energy through the memories I have of them. They were genuinely good people who valued the right things in life. "Pray" to whatever inspires you to be your best self in the moment.

Go find a karaoke nightclub if you can! They're crazy about it over there. There's also really silly things like robot bars and maid cafes but this late there's probably just stuff open in the red light districts. A lot of salarymen go out late and play pachinko which is their form of gambling.

I'm looking for fun places to make out (and more!) that I can visit with hubby. Keep things fun and new! Indoor, outdoor, hit me with some of the greatest places you've had a roll in the hay!

I show my shoulders as much as I can now. Do I turn heads? In Utah county, you bet your ass I do. I try to set an example for my Mormon babysitters and cousins: shoulders aren't porn! Get over them!!

Nice to meet ya :D I think he's our great great uncle or something like that. Good strong stock :D and curious enough about the world to risk one's own safety and help others. That's a legacy worth having!

I'm proud to have been descended from the Savage line. I like to think that I inherited a touch of common sense like Levi had, at least enough to see through the church's lies and get out. His story is an incredible one. He went on a mission that circled the globe.

LDS "top" heaven involves having tons and tons of spirit babies (and apparently an actual baby if you want to save everyone's souls). Being a creative person and the mother of two babies myself, I can't imagine a worse hell than having countless spawn. I love my little critters but I've had a very difficult time adjusting to motherhood. It's been four years and I still don't enjoy it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmc21V-zBq0 I love Woodkid's unique sound. I first heard them on an Assassin's Creed video game trailer. The other day I came across another video of theirs showing a young boy escaping some white buildings that were very temple-like. Creatures of the earth rise to help him get away. He later returns with his army of tree people to fight the white city. It is ve

Jared Hess, of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre fame. Lots of dorky adventures of well meaning nerds who grow up and figure things out.

Ok I just heard about this event today on a local prepper FB page. It's happening right now at UVU in Orem. I'm mildly interested in just what they have to say. Anyone else going? If so, please return and report. They seem to think a lot of their "tremendous" event. Funny thing is I have heard of this no where else and I'm in happy valley. You would think the church would widely endorse

One would hope that they would try to blend in more if it were against the rules haha. I think they're allowed to visit museums and such on their mission. Not totally sure on the rules.

Yes they have gotten into solar. I recently compared Utah solar companies and just as with their alarm branch they are getting terrible reviews. They have a huge building being built in Lehi though so they must be staying afloat somehow.

Another quote from Uchtdorf that made me so angry I wanted to cry. It's so unbelievably stupid. He wouldn't have his stupid flying career if it weren't for scientists studying flight. "Sometimes, the truth may just seem too straightforward, too plain, and too simple for us to fully appreciate its great value. So we set aside what we have experienced and know to be true in pursuit of more

It's funny, in TSCC not going on a mission for guys is kinda seen the same way. I had promised myself based on Young Women teachings that I would settle for "no less than" a returned missionary. Well I found a guy who didn't go and it was the best decision I've ever made :) I'm glad that guy in your story used his heart to get past the indoctrination.

A relative of mine sticks to the theory that the dinosaurs were in layers of other planets that God used to put together this one. I've tried and tried to get her to understand evolution and she persists. I've never been so frustrated in my life.

I'm a cosplayer and I've never heard anything about it other than my gramma being mad that some of my outfits can't be worn with garments. To me cosplay is just an art medium to play with and can teach you many skills in fabrication. I've learned about sculpting, sewing, fiberglass, painting, 3D printing, pattern drafting...just to name a few. It keeps me motivated to learn :)

It's funny because the character Peeta is brainwashed and has to play the "real or not real" game to sort out his memories.

Battle Royale was great. A very Japanese juxtoposition with the cute and innocent ridiculously mixed with the violent and gory. They use the "nerds" to help them hack their way out of the game which is also what happened in Catching Fire. Like you said The Hunger Games ripped them off but made it into something "serious".

Years ago in college I remember being invited to a fireside meeting. Usually these were just talks/spiritual uplifting and socializing afterwards. Well this particular one started of with some lady trying to get us all to be part of a "danceapalooza", some traveling dance performance musical atrocity that she was really excited about. It got weird fast. The room was atwitter with a gene

I saw the movie in the theater yesterday. It was a very intense experience and I'm 29. The cruelty of the Capitol is in full force in this one. I remember going to the bathroom afterwards and letting it sink in that real people are this cruel and it made me shed tears. I too saw Jurassic Park (hence my screen name) at 8 but the point of that one is just that animals hunt and can't be controlled.P

I just had a fun epiphany. Ok. So the creation story talks about the seven days God spent creating the earth. That seven days is now the reason all of humanity uses the seven day week and why the Sabbath is such a big deal to worshippers. But-- We now know the earth to be round, with a day/night happening somewhere all the time. Space has day and night simultaneously. How can God have separate

I was talking to the aunt of the groom at a wedding and she happened to know my grandparents and was in their same ward. My grandpa died in 2011. She proceeded to tell me a story about her daughter who claimed she was greeted and shook hands with grandpa after he died. The lady then told me "that means he's resurrected, because you can't shake hands with a spirit" as per the scriptures

Oh, I just remembered that a friend of a friend was working on a children's mobile app with Book of Mormon stories in it. Cute drawings and a sticker mode to create little scenes. Designed to keep them busy in Sacrament meeting lol.
