So the morg wants to come after our part member families and inactive families. Lets fight back. I would be really grateful if someone could provide some pamphlets that have real church history, for example a list of js wiv are es with ages and quotes about how they were coerced/manipulated into marrying him. I have seen the christian ones they put out to witness to mormons, but they are not re

One person has posted and nothing from the local ward, which means they will probably be talking about our family, just not on facebook. I can see this going badly for our family. Dh is inactive, which makes church not as much of an isssue. I really don't want him sucked back in.

Awesome post! Hopefully this new reactivation plan will be the final straw for some of these members and also inactive people who didn't feel the need to resign before,/but will now. I hope this backfires on lds inc.

I also had leaders tell me to imagine Jesus interviewing me instead of the leader. It made me feel horribly guilty. Not sure if other people have had a similar esperience.

I was recently watching a history program on books that were banned from the bible, for example the gospel of mary, gospel of thomas, etc. There were a ton and it got me to thinking about how the book of mormon bashes the catholic church for taking things out of the bible, and causing people to stumble. I also remember growing up hearing the Council of Nicea being mocked and used to prove that

I agree with the people saying to take a stand now. Months ago I took a stand and told dh I didn't want kids attending lds inc. It was extremely hard but I just thought how can I stand by and say nothing when I know how harmful the church is. I knew that if I didn't at least try to keep them out of the church, I would have to be accountable to them later.

Yes, and the ridiculous part of this is that the mormons want other people to respect their beliefs and yet show no respect for other religions. If mormons really respected other churches, they wouldn't send out missionaries to tell people their churches are false. I have had several mormons on facebook whine about not being respected and people making fun of their beliefs. I have been really

"The Lord wants fathers to bless their families, not just rule over them." There it is right from the horses mouth, and yet they still tell everyone that men and women are equal partners, whatever that means.

So we got an invitation to a baptism for a child in the family. Any progress I thought I had made in not being so angry at the church is gone. I am so mad at all the lies and manipulation that the church did to make to make this baptism happen. I feel like my head is going to explode. One of the worst parts is that I can't confide in anyone how I feel about this. I have to smile and pretend e

So sorry about your manipulative family. I think you handled it great. Make sure to return and report to tell us how your family took it.

No you are totally not selfish. It might not be a bad idea to offer to babysit for them as long as you are doing it at your house. That way you could look at it as a way to spend time with your nieces and nephews. I volunteered to babysit at home when my sister got married. I was going to feed them pizza, watch cartoons, and play mario kart. It would have been a lot more fun than sitting in t

I have thought about what i will do when they start coming for my kids. They are too young right now. I have decided to hand out anti mormon literature. I will keep/some by my door and hand them out to whoever comes by to invite my kids to church. Anyone who calls, mails or harrasses my child in any other way should check their mailbox for anti mormon literature in their mailbox. I will retur

YW program pushes you really hard to be married and have tons of kids. There is no consideration that not everyone wants to be a mom or is cut out for it. They give you no helpful parenting advice or on how to have a successful marriage. They just tell you, marry in the temple and you will be happy, the end. Most other churches require marriage counseling before they will marry you. Not lds in

My dh was upset that i didn't tell him sooner. I'm not sure if he was more hurt or mad or combo of both. The thing is, when i did tell him all the reasons why i thought the church isn't what it claims to be, he just shut me down. He didn't want to hear it. Looking back, there is no way i could have told him sooner. I was freaking out over all the info i was finding out. I was scared because

This was in the SLTrib today. Scouts Canada does not discriminate against gays or women. What is interesting is the LDS troops lobbied for an exception so they could exclude girls, but not people who are gay. The inconsistency is mind boggling. On the other hand, it does confirm what I already thought; that misogyny in the lds church is worse than the homophobia. Here is the link: No ban on g

Is anyone else getting this from their tbm facebook friends? There is a facebook page called I sustain president monson, and my tbm facebook friends are relentlessly posting from this page. Is there any way to block a specific facebook page? I know i can simply remove people from my newsfeed, but i really hate to do that. I have to think the church must be really pushing mormon related posts du

I remember monson giving a talk where this little boy died around the same time his older brother went on a mission. He said they were both called on missions, but to different places. I find this really disturbing. Its like the church is trying to make his death all about them. Also, i find it depressing that if there really is an afterlife, there will be mormons harassing us there too.

So recently I was berated, called disrespectful, and intolerant of religious beliefs simply for saying that shunning at mormon weddings is wrong. I didn't do a good job defending myself, so of course later i found myself wondering what I should have said. The answer came while I was watching Dr Seuss with my kids. The collection of cartoons we were watching included one called the sneetches. I

Baura, thanks for posting all the references. Joseph Smith didn't do a very good job editing the bom after he changed his mind about the trinity. I attend a protestant church now, and re-reading those bom verses is identical to the way they talk about the trinity at mine and other christian churches. But the abinidi verses are by far the most damning. I remember reading them as a child and th

I literally could not believe what i was reading, especially the part where she was talking about how you aren't really worthy of the spirit's guidance unless you are beautiful on the outside too. The spirit cares about makeup and curled hair? Seriously though, these kind of articles remind me how important it is to keep my little girls away from the cult.

Love forestpal's response! Its family time. My inlaws took my kids to church a few times, and it was hard, but i went to dh and said i didn't want them going anymore. We never got a chance to tell them because they left to go on a mission of sorts for several months. I told dh that we will have to tell them when they get back and i'm pretty sure it will be up to me to tell them. I plan on pr

That is a really tough spot to be in. I would consider sending her an email or calling her before she comes to let her know you don't believe and won't be attending church. When i came out to my family, it was by email. It made things easier. Your mil can always attend church by herself or with your wife. I feel for you on the coffee. My family still doesn't know i drink tea and its been 2 ye
