Sometimes I feel so stupid coming to this forum. Not because of any of you. Because I am tired of how completely insane and cultish is the organization I thought knew it all. For fuck’s sake!

Nature is my god. Just straight up no frills. Standing and absorbing all there is at a hidden mountain lake with brookies taking flies. Giant mountains. Sitting on their peaks seeing nature for endless miles in all directions. Sipping icey water from glacier runoff. Mixing wild onions and garlic in my trout dinner. Touching a bristlecone pine that’s thousands of years old. Picking up a piece o

The N1H1 virus killed something like 50 million people near the end of WWI. I think I read that it killed something like 3% of the world’s population. Check out the flu of 1918. Was talking to my wife last night about flu. Seems like nothing until you get it.

Jeff Flake (i.e., morons) have NO idea what truth is. It’s anathema. I looked up, ‘pompous, entitled, snowflake, hypocrite, and jackass’ in my Funk and Wagnal. Jeff’s picture was at all the definitions. If Trump was Stalin (not a defense of the Trumpster), Jeffy would already be dead. What a perfect example of moronism. Same for his sweetheart, Mitt.

Go sit with her. No need to talk. From personal experience, just having another human being near you is all that’s needed. She’ll talk. Listen with your heart. Hugs work. You can’t fix it. Grieving is a process. Twenty to thirty minutes makes a huge difference. Do it often. You’ll know how and when to back away. It’s about love. Plain ole love.

My grandma lived on $450 per month. Her money was so tight that I paid her natural gas bill so she could bath, cook and be warm. She had over 100 combined children and grand children. Somehow she managed every year to buy, wrap and send a gift to all. The gifts were in the $1.00 range. Her Christmas gifts were always my favorite - you could almost feel the love she sent.

We have all the laws necessary to deal with all of social woes. We just need to use them. Every new law creates a class of victims and perpetrators. Just new territory for lawyers to cash in on. A new wedge. A new angle. Why can’t we all just get along, to quote a man named Rodney...

Building security - ward, stake office and seminary building. At night. No one around except the occasional person who needed a warm place to sleep. Used to scare the bejeezus out of me running into someone in a dark classroom. Building Sanitation Coordinator - no one would ever show up. Spent many a Saturday cleaning alone rocking to Led Zeppelin on my iPod. Could never get rid of the smell.

In my life, the worst criminals and asshats I’ve ever met wore a badge. Life is 80/20 always. 80% are cowardly bullies. 20% not so much. My most recent experience was a truck parked 30 feet onto my grass. Parked by an off-duty cop because it was summer and he wanted shade while at a party across the street. He ended my challenge of his parking by saying, ‘I’m a cop and I can do whatever I w

Think of it this way: Going to med school (which may be 4, 8, or 12 years) will require MUCH self-discipline. Think of now as a training ground for that and hold off until you graduate. It will go by fast. Really. Christmas is already 3 weeks in distant memory. Valentines is a little over a month away. After that another month will give you the ‘ides of March.’ Couple more weeks is Easter.

Ok. I could say something like Plato’s Republic (for exmos, the Allegory of the Cave says it all), but not today. Sue Grafton just died. She wrote alphabet detective novels that are really fun. I think the first one is ‘A for Alibi.’ The protagonist is a woman. The novels are fun and full of great mystery. She writes in such a way that you have to get to the end for the resolution. Fai

Just questions: Would you have chosen a different wife? Are you honest? Would the wife or partner of another choice be honest? Could you actually live honestly your fantasies with a real woman? Are you capable of love? Are you peaceful in your soul? Do you love and forgive yourself or are you stuck? Would you accept what you claim in your wife/partner to do? What are your expectations? I th

You need an attorney. The timing of all they did and cost you was not a coincedence. As far as hating mormons? There are good and bad folk of all stripes. To keep from being jaded and cynical, take everyone at face value until they prove you right or wrong. IMHO. ;)

No, it wasn’t. Not by a light year. Ghengus Kahn (sp), Hitler, Stallin, Mao, Cambodian killing fields, Castro, Che, the brutality in Chile...on and on. No, this was not the worst year ever by MILES! You only see it that way because your experience is limited to Subway and Starbucks. In reality it was a good year. When the SS drag you out of bed in the middle of the night and put you on a train

Come on. I grew up across the street from a famous Utah art museum in Springville. All town students toured the gallery where there was a full-size replica of the David statue. Along the walls were paintings of nude or semi-nude folks. Holy hell! We live in an insane world!! What in the world is wrong with our bodies that so offend? Taking the next trip to Mars, even on a rover. Gotta get out

His inner self and external role are not compatible. Hence, stress. Everyone rises to their level of incompetence...or maybe he’s admitting what he had to do along the way and projecting it on you. Just a thought.

I’ll answer the OP: We all have expectations of marriage. Some realistic. Some not. In my opinion, being with someone where expectations are similar creates the best relationship. It sounds to me that the two of you are worlds apart regarding expectations. It’s ok to admit that and try the fork in the path. If you do go another way, try your best to do it without hostility. Because hostil
