I went to church for a long time because i rationalized that it was a way for me to keep on eye on what the "church" was teaching my kids. This year I decided I already knew what the "church" was going to teach them, stopped going, and told my kids they only have to go to church if their chores are not completed (they had to go to church today). Mrs Truthseeker is a tbm who

I also left the MO2.0 site because I had the poor manners to post about emotional manipulation in the church, and that the church's true aim is to make people unhappy so they will stay. the responses were so angry and rude I immediately removed myself from the group. That group is pointless - most of those folks will remain in the church because of their ability to rationalize every lie they a

This mormon BS about suffering is called "costly signaling" - you signal your devotion to the cause (any cause) by what it costs you - poverty in school, unable to support your kids, tithing, the amt of time you spend on ht/vt/other church mtgs/service, etc etc etc. it's a well understood principle and explains why so many mormons (and mystics of all other flavors) make such a big de

Why tomorrow is Zombie Jesus Day - when xtians all over the world celebrate the fist zombie! Of course, if he had the power to bring himself back to life, was his death much of a sacrifice?

I took a nap after I sent the girls to conference with their mother as punishment for not completing their chores (it always amazes me how quickly they can wreck a room, and how long it takes them to clean it up). conference still has some utility, even if it is cruel and unusual.

They're desperate for any name recognition - archuleta is just the latest "c or d" celeb that got hooked up in the cult. he'll fade pretty fast and the morg will move on to some other poor sap unfortunate to have any bit of real world notoriety.

I left the MO 2.0 Fb (a "liberal" morg grp that discusses issues with church governance etc) group yesterday for something similar. A young woman on her way out of church had posted that rumors of her abusing her children etc were being spread through her ward and she lamented the fact that some of these people used to be friends. I made three comments: 1) character assassination

Dehlin linked to a list of the contradictions contained in the bible - that's always a good starting place b/c so many claim the bible is the word of gawd and is to be taken literally. A gawd that makes approx 1700 mistakes in it's book of rules should not be taken very seriously.

Jesus is the ultimate zombie - except he doesn't want to eat our brains, he wants us to eat his meat and drink his blood. Jesus sounds a lot like bacchus, who was another of the myriad dying reviving gods humans have created throughout history. Bacchus also wanted his followers to eat his meat and drink his blood.

temple marriage means nothing. in the U.S. you are legally married once the license has been granted. After that, the govt could not care less how much money or time you spend on elaborate mystical ceremonies or which words are used for the incantation that makes your marriage acceptable to some god.
