It was entertaining, but sadly I don't know enough about the power structure of JWs to be properly impressed. I was also impressed with how polite Morris was, given his role. I doubt it would be that polite if you called up Monson (well, with monson I would be impressed if he was coherent.)

I'm of the camp that TSCC causes these mental problems. From my personal experience Mormonism increased my stress levels in ways that I'm still realizing. - Additional financial stress caused by tithing 10% of your gross income. - The need to be "obedient" and the guilt, shame, and even social issues that result when you fall short or sin. - Policing your every waking though

I'm pretty sure we'll start seeing new terms as we start to more carefully define people's experience... for example, "Bisexual heteroromantic cis-male"

Don't go to BYU... trust me, you don't want every resume you send out to say "BYU" on it.

Speaking from experience, you should tell her ASAP... no joke. The longer you wait the worse it will be for both of you... She deserves to know who she is dating and be able to form realistic expectations. You deserve to live your life without pretense or hypocrisy. Worst case: She is a jack-mo who was having fun and breaks up with you. Had you waited she would have divorced you l

It could be a host of things. Check the event logs on your pc to see if there are any failures. Check your drives, make sure they have enough space for the page file. Defrag, and run Check Disk (chkdsk). Also verify that your RAM is fine. I would recommend backing up anything of value and pave the machine (reformat all drives and re-install windows). Then before doing anything e

There is a lot of anger here as well. For many of us, myself included, the anger comes later. I wasn't angry until my ex-wife and my "friends" left me... then I became angry.

So sad... "eternal self" is just "the person TSCC tells you should become". How about being true to my "internal moral self" and hope that the rest works itself out in the eternities should life continue after I die?

My thoughts: Her behavior doesn't seem to fall in line with what her church expects of her. She will soon discover that she can't have both her private life and her new church. They are incompatible, especially when her church considers her weeknight activities to be a sin next to murdering children. If she keeps it up she'll find herself in a room full of men asking her about all the thin

Silence or Quiet Reflection during sacrament meetings More engaging sunday school lessons. Peers And it's a meat market. But lets me honest, you sister is 25, there aren't many 20-something TBMs left in this world. Her best chance of meeting/dating fellow TBMs is a YSA ward. If she wants to marry a TBM that is remotely "normal" she is already years behind the curve. The lon

What Don said... we did. I'm really shocked that your Mormon Sunday School teachers didn't know the mormon answer. There are even LDS Hymns about this. Mormons believe in generations of gods. Heavenly Father was a mortal man and his wives were mortal women who worshiped their heavenly father (our heavenly grand-father). They created spirits for our intelligence (which is co-eternal

Most "anti-Mormon lies" come from evangelical/fundamentalist Christians. I suspect that using the truth makes them uncomfortable because the same process used to disprove Mormonism can be used to disprove Christianity.

I would go with beer or cider for your first time. Cider will likely be more palatable for you. Alternate drinking a glass of water between alcoholic drinks. It'll slow down your consumption and keep you hydrated.

I think that many Mormons 'know' about the bulk of the issues. TBM me "knew" about polygamy, anachronisms, peep stones, etc. but what I didn't do as a TBM was THINK. For example: I knew that the BoM talked about horses yet there's no evidence that horses lived in the Americas during that time. But I never thought about how the archeological evidence contradicts the BoM na

I think that Mormonism creates enough stress that strange behaviors come out as a result of coping. For example, when I was Mormon I had some serious OCD tendencies to the point that it caused problems. Shortly after leaving Mormonism those obsessive thoughts stopped and I could even eat leftovers (which is something I avoided my entire Mormon life).

1.2 Billion Catholics vs. 15 Million Mormons That's a ratio of 1:0.0125 TSCC is not important on the world stage. The PR department is kind of like North Korea, they try to make themselves seem like world players.
