Get a good lawyer, NOW. You have enough evidence to get custody. Depression in a teen is nothing to mess with, they are very volatile. A good lawyer could get that kid placed in your house. You don't have to move.

As a non-Mo, please tell me, do Mormon women work outside the home? If not, how in H-E-doublehockeysticks do the men make enough money to support everything? I, too, have noticed the huge houses, like in St. George and Cedar City and other predominantly Mormon towns. I have trouble making it and it's just me and my dogs!

We all know what stereotypes are, they can be wrong, but often they are based on reality at some level...

BYU might be the best univ. on the planet, but how others (non-Mos) perceive it isn't very high IMHO. What's the point if you can't get a job interview? (Other than getting a good education, that is.)

2769. Newbie Q
I started the thread Are Mormons Dishonest - and it's been closed. I thought it was very interesting, can anyone tell me why it would be closed? Thanks in advance.

Well, you're assuming it already is considered a legit univ., which I question. I taught at a college, and BYU was kind of a joke when it came to non-Mormons taking it seriously. Lots of anti-BYU prejudices out there. I think I'd rather not have a degree at all than to have one from BYU because of that.

Support groups are not where happy people go, they don't need support groups. So, you're going to have miserable people in a support group, by definition. Don't expect them to act happy. and don't project that they're trying to make you miserable. But if someone is genuinely enjoying being miserable and making others feel that way also, I'd be inclined to think it gives them a feeling of havin

I think your question is answered by the members of the Mormon Church. Somehow I suspect that's not the answer you wanted... :)

One example: A friend bought some real estate and the sellers told him the water rights came with it. He checked, and yes, they did, but while the property was in escrow the sellers (Mormons) transferred the rights to a relative. He could've sued (I would've), but chose not to, since the sellers were related to the judge. As for hiding behind I'm a Mormon, I'm honest, no Mormon in his/her righ

I mean, is it worried about this show? It seems it would give Mormons a bad rep (wait...they already have one). :)

So how can I tell if someone is Mormon before I do business with them?

So, it seems like anytime I do anything involving money (except things like buying groceries and gas) I should find out if I'm dealing with a Mormon. How can I know?

OK, I read Lying for the Lord. basically, it seems that lying for the Church is OK. So this includes biz deals since you'll have more tithes to pay? Is it really a thing that permeates everything they do? Why not lie to the bish about everything you did bad - wait, that's dishonest...??? Yikes, congnitive dissonance...

I ask because I live in a town in Utah that's about 48% Mormon. Any time I hear about a business deal, it seems the Mormons screwed someone, esp. in real estate. The on-going motto here when dealing with a Mormon is "watch your back." At first, when I moved here about 15 years ago, I thought the non-mos were really prejudiced. But the more stories I heard, the more I wondered. I hav

Even if you join a new one, it adds to your experience level and hopefully eventually you'll figure it all out and leave that one, too.

I was a freshman at Colorado State U when our basketball team played BYU. There was a demonstration against BYU for the racism of the LDS nuts. I think this was in 1969 or 70. I, of course, attended the demonstration, but I left early. I heard it got a bit violent. Not very relevant to the topic, but I thought I'd add it to point out that a goodly number of people are/were aware of LDS bigotry

Pretty easy, you live in Utah. It's true, people really do make that association.

I live in Utah, but I'm a nevermo and I live in a tourist town where Mos are outnumbered. Even here, you can pretty easily spot the Mormons, and they are not really trusted by the Nons. I have personally experienced some anti-Mormon discrimination until people realized I wasn't a Mormon.
