I would change number 8 to this.

Joining the circus. Joining the ashram. Joining The Mormons.

WTF? Jello shots?

I didn't discover them until after I was 50. Not going to stop now.

I'm sorry but that could have been a really funny list and whomever wrote it completely dropped the ball. Instead, it was lame - seriously lame. Although I agree with you about number 8.

I don't ever get links from AARP "funnies."

I'm 69. I would add "Trying to write your name in the snow with... "

Never mind.

Nobody should do 9, 10 or 11 at any age. Stomach still churning. . . .

No. 23: Pay attention to lists complied by the old folks at the AARP (I'm 53 so I get to say over 50 is old).

But I've never tried a jello shot! I've got to add it to my bucket list.

I don't have to go down Black Diamond Ski runs with my husband. The bunny hill is fine. I NEVER have to try water skiing again--get over it! Never was good and I am sure not getting better! And ice skating--done!

No. 23: Turn a cartwheel. One of my relatives tried it at about age 52 and we had to more or less carry her out of the back yard. She did keep her legs straight, though.

The best thing about being over 50 (way over) is that you don't have to pay attention to stupid lists like that one. If you can physically do something without it resulting in a trip to the emergency room and you really want to do it, you should.

I get SO tired of the constant yammering in commercials and the media about 50 being some magical line one supposedly crosses into old age, all for the sake of marketing. 50 isn't what it used to be. The designation of 50 as "old" is as outdated now as was similar thinking about people over 30 in the 1960s. A 64yo just swam to Cuba for heaven's sake! And you're supposed to decline a jello shot because you had another birthday? How ridiculous. You can get hurt at any age if you're not fit enough for an activity. Keep yourself in shape, and if you want to do it, do it.

I started rock climbing when I was 49. I've been doing it for 5 years and love it. I lead sport and trad. It's a real rush. I know rock climbers in their 70s that regularly climb at a consistently high level (5.10 and higher).

I'd forget about lists like this. If you want to something bad enough and have drive, energy, stamina and good health, you can do it.

Repeat after me; age is a number....
