You can pretty much tell the TBMs that FAIR is not official.

The FAIR disclaimer is warned about in the temple, "The philosophies of men mingled with scripture".

It was a modest little brown tract house built in the 1950s.

A tired TBM housewife holding an excited yippy dog answered door and said her husband who ran FAIR was not at home. I posted about this experience and the web site and address were promptly removed.

This is all by design. If they were affiliated then this would be the official answer. By doing it this way they give the appearance of an official answer but the option to back away from it at a later date. They go to great lengths to never say anything concrete.

LDS Inc. suffers from disclaimer-itis,

The missionaries left a pamphlet on my door. In one part it quoted Gordon Hinckley. At the conclusion of the pamphlet it had a disclaimer: None of the views expressed or stated should be considered official doctrine and /or policy of LDS INC.

Not owned, controlled, or affiliated with the Morg, but they are financed and endorsed by them. And Morg leaders direct members to them (rather than their "prophet") for answers to their questions.
