and according to the LDS official website it will help you build a testimony. So stop calling it "scrubbing the ward toilets" and respect it for the fabulous spiritual experience it is. I intend to tell my own children from now on that they don't do chores, they perform "estate maintenance" and it brings them closer to the Lord everytime they pick up their Monster High dolls.

So, the cheap old GA geezer bas**rds are calling the nasty slave work MEETINGHOUSE CARE???

That sounds ever so benign and sweet.

They will continue to take take take and lie lie lie, until their sheeple wise up and realize that they DO NOT speak for God. They are con men and they are liars.

Even as a TBM I refused to clean the building of an organization we gave thousands of dollars a year to. I knew the janitors they had hired, they were hard working people who really needed a job. And those cheap a**holes laid them off. Because they are greedy. And the sheeple will do anything they are told.

I talked to my TBM mom about this just the other day, telling her how whacked it is. Her reply was that "It was an inspired move because people appreciate things more when they have a hand in caring for them."

I told her I had tried the exact same tactic with my boys -- they have to clean their own bathroom. That rule has been in place in our home for years, but that hasn't helped them be more careful about aiming into the toilet one bit. In fact, it sometimes makes the problem worse if they know that it is their brother's turn to clean that week.

Her response was to bear her testimony. Ugh.

Fecal receptacle maintenance staff. Call them what you want. They sit on the back pews where I grew up.

It is called meetinghouse care because there are words that are semantically significant to the imagery side of the brain. These words are carefully selected to maximize the subordinate mind set of the member.
You are now doing something pure and holy

Mormons have mastered the art of not only whitewashing, but getting others to think it's a privilege to do it for them.

Back when we were semi-active, my son got an e-mail that the young men were doing the "meetinghouse care" that Saturday and he was invited to come show gratitude for the beautiful building we'd been blessed with. No acknowledgment that we PAID for the building. It's almost like the organizers didn't realize the church couldn't have "blessed us" with the building if we hadn't blessed them with such a large percentage of our gross income.

Needless to say, he didn't go.

...twelve families (or small cadre of single adults) clean our entire (somewhat small) church each week on a three-month cycle. It's done Thursday or Friday night, depending so everything is ready for Sunday.

There's a wait list to get on the rotation.

Interesting what happens when people live by faith, instead of obedience, and love God, instead of believing that they have to earn their spiritual brownie points.

I will gladly use the term "meetinghouse care" instead of "cleaning the church" if the church also decides that "tithing" is more appropriately worded as "fleecing of membership."

I refer to it as 'corporate greed'
I wonder how much they pocketed when they laid off the janitors.

I feel a song coming on with that witty new title: Meetinghouse Care. Hang on. Here it is.

Oh, what love and care we share
When we help with meetinghouse care
And blessings will follow two by two
When doing what God calls us to do.

So, when asked, "Saturday, will YOU be there?
To help, to serve, in meeting house care?"
Stand tall, shout out strong and clear
"Yes, oh yes, I will be there."

Shouldn't it be "blessings will follow No. 1 and No. 2"? :-)

A Smart-ass should show up on Saturday, tell everyone how much he cares about the meetinghouse, and express his gratitude for the beautiful building, then leave.

That flier didn't ask him to actually CLEAN the building.

By golly, my song in the Mormoney hymm book!!! Fame and riches that I have long sought at last may be right around the corner. I can stop traveling to Wyoming for those lottery tickets.

I just know that they will also present me with the following:
(because the Cult takes such good care of its members)

A very, very expensive car that tops Tommy's (with a chauffeur straight from France)

Many extended trips to Hawaii

A lovely villa located in beautiful Heber Valley with a maid, butler and gardener

Double royalties for me and my posterity for each hymn book printed

and...and...and...

I've been around family members and others that talk about 'their turn' to go clean. They sound like if they don't, they're going to explode or something. Really, they act like if they don't scrub a toilet at an appointed time on Saturday mornings, they'll be hauled to the pulpit on Sunday morning, excommunicated in front of their congregation, then hung like witches in Salem. FUCK they have their members brainwashed.

I said something like, "I hear you have to clean the buildings now?" at a family gathering a while back...
I got a chorus of answers all talking over each other.
"There's still a deep cleaning crew."
"Other churches have their members clean."
"I will serve the lord in any capacity."
"It's not a big deal."
And there were plenty more I couldn't make out because thy all spoke at once.

Normal people would say something like, "Yeah, I hate cleaning, but I enjoy using the building too." Nooooo everybody went to full on defensive mode. lol!

I could have used " Estate Maintenance" years ago! What was I thinking, telling the kids they had to do "chores." !!

Fortunately, I left before they instituted the toilet brigade!

I can't, for the life of me, figure out why the LDS Church thinks it's cleaning maintenance of their buildings needs to be left to Ward members. That, to me, shows a total lack of respect for their own buildings. If they cared about the upkeep they would hire professional, bonded, janitorial services that do it thoroughly, and sanitize properly.

If the LDS Church does not care about the cleaning maintenance, I sure don't either.

Back in the day before I "Broke Bad" I was the ward "meetinghouse specialist." I hated it and most of all hated asking people to do it. We had the duty every third month, so my wife and I cleaned the church by ourselves a lot for two years. I didn't see Jesus appear to me in the chapel as I was humbly cleaning away, but believe it or not there are a few people that love cleaning the church and get a big spiritual woody from it. Most people would not answer the phone when they saw who was calling because they knew was recruiting.

After about two years of this pain in the ass janitorial work, I asked to be released. That also happens to be about the time I found out JS was a con man and sex predator so it was pretty easy to go in ask to be released.

The coffers are bare,
So this is what you do,
You do the meetinghouse care,
With the rest of the crew.

(Chorus)
Put your faith in the prophet,
Put your faith in the man,
I now know TBM stands for
Tidy Bowl Man.

We like to whited the platess,
Like they was sepulchers,
You've come to the wrong place,
If you were looking for culture.

(Chorus)

(Next two lines sung by the brethren and...cistern? That can't be right...)

So stick a brush in the stool,
And join in the chorus,

(Next two lines sung by the GA)
Get busy, fool,
It means more money for us!

(Scene fades as church members look like deer in headlights and GAs roll about on floor, laughing wildly. Well, they roll around after they grab a few of the members' coats to roll around on. Have you *seen* those floors??!?)

Are the grounds keeping part of meetinghouse care? Because no one is taking care of the lawn at my building. The grass is overgrown and more weeds are popping up. There are even some bare spots.

Now the funny thing is...why does this give me perverse pleasure?

We took turns mowing the chapel lawn or pruning trees.
We had members that did electrical work or woodworking etc
The interior was taken care of by a paid janitor.
60s to 80s.

We had a kid in our branch who got his girlfriend pregnant and had to quit school to raise his kid and support his teen bride. The ward gave him the janitor job and he nearly killed himself mixing disinfectant chemicals that became toxic when mixed together.

I hope TSCC is requiring use of non=toxic cleaning agents because amateur cleaning crew could kill themselves or others. And if they aren't cleaning correctly they could actually spread disease rather than curtail it.

My question is "Where is the accountability?" If somebody doesn't do their job or does it badly or endangers somebody else then where does the responsibility lie? They didn't want to take responsibility for someone getting sick because of poor food preparation in kitchen facilities so where is the fear of hygiene related problems in bathrooms and chapels? One badly infected baby diaper could spread some serious ecoli throughout a meetinghouse. One giant lawsuit over this and the policy will change REAL fast. Prophecy from Cali Sally.
