There was a storyline on 'SG1' that soooo reminded me of Mormons; from Wikipedia: "... The Ori fabricated a religion called Origin, which they use in an attempt to control non-ascended beings. The Ori also attempt to destroy any planets and civilizations that reject Origin. A central theme in the show is that power does not make someone a god nor entitle them to be worshipped; rather, the way they use great power is the measure of how they should be honored."

I was always waiting for them to either dial up Kolob or the real planet the Nephites lived on. (Moroni takes the plates. Escapes through the Star Gate and buries them in future New York.

Oh no! Did I just solve all the inconsistencies in the BoM?

I was thinking of doing something with the Hieroglyphics but this just seemed more compelling.

But if you pay attention, Stargate got the hieroglyphs right where Joseph got them wrong.
