About halfway between LA and Santa Barbara, near where the Great and Abominable Church built a mission to convert the Chumash Lamanites 50 years before Joe Smith was even born...
P.S. The Chumash were here about 10,000 years before the Lehites, so they must be the "others" mentioned in the BoM.
We visited the mission this summer. I laughed at the propaganda, er, information placards regarding the Chumash Indians and their conversion. Everything was peaceful and the native people loved the new teachings and flocked to mission to have their children baptized. What a crock of sh1t!!
Have been calling myself "Cali Sally" as I was living/working in California when I left LDS Inc. and found this website. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE living in California. I was not raised there and have had to return to the Midwest to care for my elderly mother. Should I change to "Midwest Sally" or just keep my old moniker? Would very much like to return to California and have most of my family (never LDS) living in Malibu.
Lived for 5 years in San Diego (Scripps Ranch). Left a few years ago for work but I miss it every single day. After my son finishes high school in a few years, will do everything I can to return. My wife grew up in Buena Park.
