I remember hearing that the Anointed one (A.K.A. Tom Phillips) had some big news to break on Conference weekend. Is that still forth coming? Or did I miss it?
First, I never coined the term 'October Surprise' and second, I never mentioned it would be GC weekend. This whole thing grew legs after I made an off the cuff remark.
That said, I am expecting to announce something before the end of October (exact timing is not totally in my control). Whether it is a surprise or anything big, I will leave to you to judge. I personally think it will be both a 'surprise' and 'big' but that is only my personal opinion for what it is worth.
Glad to hear straight form the horse's mouth that you seem to be OK. It's been a while since I've seen you on the board. Good luck with the announcement, Tom!
I thought the "October Surprise" was going to be Steve Young leaving the Church or coming out of the closet or something. Then that got debunked, and it got transferred to Tom somehow.
When one is a Brit, it becomes hard to understand the weird nuances of American television. But in Autumn all the new "line-ups" come out for the three big networks (ABC, NBC, CBS), and NBC has a history of troubles and... I see that it's really quite banal now that I am explaining it. Let's just agree that I never made the comment. We'll edit it out.
Sorry cludgie. I wasn't trying to be offensive, just some rather sad attempt at homour (humor). I'll try to edit mine out after you have a chance to see this apology.
I am sure I read here some months ago that there would be some public exposure about financial irregularities by the church in Europe re. Mission Presidents and non disclosure or cover up of church "expenses", for avoidance of tax, etc. Is this not now going to happen? How very disappointing if the church gets away with this scam.
Those matters have been reported to the appropriate authorities who are not noted for acting quickly in such cases. The church won't get away with it though.
I am working on a bigger issue than that - financially bigger than tax evasion.
Tom, many thanks for the reassuring and intriguing information and that these ongoing "events" are still very much alive and progressing. Let's hope it hits the church hard and where it will really hurt them.
Oh you guys are worse than kids at Christmas. Don't you know that the anticipation is half the fun? Oh gawd, now I've got Carly Simon running through my head. An-ti-ci-pa-shun, an-tic-i-pa-a-shun...
