Took me a bit o' time to figure out what you were doing there, 2J, but finally found the quote under Chace's "Yearbook Quote".
What is it with these dishonest "men of God" who cannot properly cite resources. Every TBM I know thinks this quote was entirely of Hunkdorf's fabulously, spirit-inspired, creative mind.
It's not exactly the world's longest and most profound sentence. It is possible he came up with it on his own. If it were a series of paragraphs, OK, probably plagiarized. But part of a sentence?
Gottfried Leibniz and Isaac Newton went to their graves each convinced that the other had stolen calculus from them. It appears now that they did independently and simultaneously come up with calculus. It happens.
There are plenty of big problems with LDS Inc. this is pretty weak tea.

Ahh, but if he properly cited the quote (which has been said by people of various other faiths) then it wouldn't hold as much weight with the members. TBMs would look at these other religions that are telling their members the same exact thing and think "But wait! We WANT non-members to doubt their faith so that they'll join OUR church"! Who knows, it might even make TBMs start to contemplate why other religions wouldn't want their members to doubt their faith (they don't want them to leave and take their money somewhere else), which could lead TBMs to wonder whether their church's motives are any different.
