When the Mormons do so much good in the world? I'm being sarcastic, but i do need a refresher.

Try being gay. Odds are good that at some point you'd consider killing yourself, and maybe even attempt/do it.

Did you know that they use to torture men they believed could be gay. BYU would do electro shock theropy showing pictures of naked men and gay acts. They made the victim shock themselves anytime they "felt" something. And if they didn't shock themselves the person doing the torturing would do it for them.

When they convice you that, you need to change yourself to become a better person, but the rules are so strict, that you never feel good enough.

Agreed. Looks at the fruits:

- Higher than average suicide rates.
- Highest anti-depressant useage.
- Highest personal bankruptcy rate.

The church makes you feel like you're never good enough. The church tells you that if you pray, you'll know it's true...if you don't get the right answer, you're the problem. The church tells you that you'll learn something new every time you go to the temple...when it still seems like BS to you, you're the problem. Why does God's one true church produce the most depressed people...'cause it's not God's one true church!

Perfectionism - the reason Utah is the most depressed state in the nation.

Focus on "so much good in the world." What exactly IS all the good that the Mormons do in the world?

Who, exactly, benefits from this Mormon good?

What charities do they operate?

When do you ever hear of non mormons praising the good that Mormons do for anyone, anywhere?

The lies, however are many and well-documented.

It seems to me, that on a balance, the lies side is hanging MUCH lower than the "good in the world" side.

Just my take on the question.

The lies are harmful because the membership are required to accept them without question. God will not be mocked and no unclean thing can enter into His glory. If you do not believe the lies, God may deny you of his presence because obedience is the first law of heaven. Thus, people are forced to live and tell a lie in order to be found worthy.

Think of "the natural man is an enemy to god." For me, that meant that who I truly was is an enemy to god. The thought then crossed my head that if I wanted to be an 'unnatural' man I'd be pretending and therefore lying. While trying to determine which was the worst sin, I realized that the natural man is what god (if he exists) made me into, and thus a just god would not punish me for being what he made me.

For all the ex mormons, including myself, there is God after morminism its way easier than their BS. Believeing in Jesus Christ as the son of God will get you to heaven, However he wants you to strive to be better people to be happy. God says we are all sinners it is impossible to reach perfection.

You stuck your finger in one of the biggest lies. The lds is NOT a great humanitarian organization. Relief giving per capita is far below other churches, which is deplorable from a group that requires 10% for a temple recommend. Proposition 8 funding does NOT count as some kind of family assistance!
Why is any lie/deception dangerous? Because lying produces delusions and delusional behaviors. Mormon lies tear apart families. Sometimes they cause insolvency and bankruptcy. The Mormon lie to young women is degrading, their worth is measured in marriage to a priesthood holder and making babies. Their personal achievement and professional goals are wrong for women. A young man will be judged unworthy for an unpaid mission if he masturbates, even once. Put on an apron & chant pe-le-ale, learn the tokens & tell yourself this is what is needed to get into heaven.

Not to mention that in CA they put forth a couple million to protest against gay marriage. God never said to badger people.

The church messes with your head in major ways..... yes they also dabble in some humanitarian work, and thats great...... but the bottom line is that they claim they are the one and only true church of god, and everyone else is wrong......they are not...... and they are not the only ones out there doing good in a nice orginized fasion. The lies are harmful because they mess with and manipulate your psyche......there are lots of harmful side effects. It is a lie that without the church you won't be able to live a good and moral life, or that you won't be able to raise your children to be good people.......why are mormon women the number one users of anti depresants? Why is utah the number one consumer of porn? And suggar? Sure the church is full of good people trying to do what is right.....and yeah they mess up some times....but you know what? That can be said of the whole world.

example: Parents bring up infants to podium for F&T, prompting them to say (parrot) "I know..." when in fact... those children don't know anything past their security blankie or to suck on something resembling their moms nipple!

They MIGHT lately begin to realize that telling ONE LIE robs you of ALL credibility...

This bugs me sooooo much. I recently listened to a 4 year old talk about how she prayed to know if the BoM was true..."It is!" she declared as her parents looked on proudly. How can you not recognize that this is brainwashing?...do you really think she would say or feel otherwise? She's barely at the age where she's able to grasp the "reality" of Santa and the Easter bunny.

the time wasted on perpetuating known lies— harmless and not— is too precious.

More specifically the older I get the less patience I have for things that are clearly not worth the effort. Don't get me wrong...I "waste time" or spend it on things others see as a waste IF I get enough in return. Mormonism the ROI was too low to want to keep up the charade.

The truth is we all lie to others and ourselves to some degree despite efforts to be fully honest. Humans do that. But honesty =) I at least want to make sure that the things I spend my time on....and lie about, as it were, are worth the time and effort.

Don't know if that makes any sense outside my head.

How about the lie the cult perpetuates that the glory of God is intelligence which by the statement makes a person think that they should read, study, weigh the pros and cons, and become as educated as possible. That you should become a person who thinks things through and does not act quickly. That you should become a person capable of reasoning.

Then the cult turns around and tells you that you can only think what they tell you to think. They tell you what books are fine and dandy to read and that you better stay away from the others if you want to make it to the Ck. That when the prophet speaks the thinking has been done.

Just what is the truth for this cult???

I'm still trying to figure out what "all the good is that Mormons do in the world."

Not feeling it.

Oh wait, maybe I can get me a yellow vest or shirt. They hand those out to everyone before the photo-ops, right?

Of all the organizations on earth, I rely on a church to teach, support and promote the truth. TSCC is based on lies and continues to perpetuate lies.

The biggest lie is that each person's salvation is dependent on the money you donate. Your tithing donation comes before support of yourself and your family. TSCC teaches that God himself requires this mandatory donation. If the bishop determines your donation is not enough then he, acting as God, can withhold your salvation.

Because lies always come around to bite you where the sun don't shine. The bigger problem is willful ignorance.

Lies waste time. Lies rob you of real honest life. Lies make you think you know things you don't and then leave you acting on misinformation. Lies send you in the wrong direction and leave you lost, sometimes unable to find your way back.

Lies leave you in ignorance. And anyone who thinks ignorance is bliss has a pretty effed up definition of the word bliss.

Mormonism has contributed nothing but abuse to my life.

And when they talk about "doing good for the world" they mean missionary and temple work.

Me too. Showing up at a few disaster sights with self promoting tee shirts on does not make up for the ugly hell they are heaping on their own.

They made my life miserable and they robbed me of the youth I should have had. They are a major cause of depression for millions and I hold them responsible for many suicides.

All the good they do? Yeah, right.

Fewer women get college degrees, especially if they attend BYU. They succumb to social pressures within the mormon culture to drop out and get married.

In Utah women lawyers are paid less than half of what their male counterparts earn (based on equal education), and the cadre of lawyers in Utah is mormon male dominated.

Purposefully teaching lies to children is mean. Punishing children for failure to believe the lies (it happened to me) is even worse. Mormonism promotes, and even insists upon, parental malpractice.

...and three major waves over the years of near-suicide.
Too many instances to name at the moment.
The church is a bull in a crystal shop, practicing mental malpractice, charlatanism, and quackery.
If you believe that a manmade myth is the god-spoken truth, conflicts with reality are inevitable.
