Friday the 24th, my 15 yr old son mailed his resignation letter to the bishop,

Sunday the 26th, we met with the bishop....to hear the "consequences" of leaving the church.

Tuesday the 28th, we got a comfirmation letter from the bishop of he is going to send in his request and waive the 30 day waiting period.

Friday, the 31 st, he got his 'official' letter from Salt Lake City saying he is no longer a member.

Damn! See, practice makes perfect. TSCC does something often enough and they become very fast and efficient at it.

Good for your son, and good for you!

It's amazing how impersonal the resignation process is. They really have it down to a science.

I'll bet they are starting to get used to it.

Congrats to your smart kid!

If postings & references here are Accurate & reflect reality, TSCC is HURTING; 'of course' we only hear about ppl leaving or Close.

However, the ex-mo crowd on FB isn't identical, similar stories there.

for a GA to verbalize this was a MAJOR admission, IMHO.

Seriously, what other church makes you send in a letter to resign and jump through hoops? None that I know of. You just quit going.

I wonder how many members get processed out on a daily basis.

Yes, congrats to you and your son. Glad it was done quickly. Hopefully they are getting a lot of practice, for the sake of humanity! :)

I'm not having so much luck. Emailed my resignation (msr-confrec@ldschurch.org) the end of last month, my wife talked with the bishop at the weekend and he said he hadnt heard anything. So sent it again.

Be glad when its done.

Is that the actual email address required for "resignation". I told them that I left so I didn't think I had to send a certified letter or anything. It's ridiculous!
