Seeing this, I wonder if we can really know anything. This series of pictures is said to show Stonehenge being built in 1954:

Thoughts?

Stonehenge is mentioned in "Historia Regum Britanniae" published in 1136. So its safe to make the assumption that the construction of Stonehenge predates that year.

There are plenty or records depicting Stonehenge predating the 1900s. My guess is preservation/restoration work or a movie set somewhere else.

From Wikipedia:

"In 1958 the stones were restored again, when three of the standing sarsens were re-erected and set in concrete bases. The last restoration was carried out in 1963 after stone 23 of the Sarsen Circle fell over. It was again re-erected, and the opportunity was taken to concrete three more stones."

"I think that the problem *may* have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument...that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf. Alright?"

Yes great song. Almost as good as "Big Bottom Woman" or something like that.

AAGGHH! Now I will have "Stonehenge--where the demons dwell!" in my head the rest of the day! (I can't even drive past a local housing development called "Stonebrae" without setting of that song in my mind.)

Your lack of research into that photograph is laughable, but you raise an interesting question: is it possible to truly KNOW anything?

For instance, can you KNOW that the sky is blue? Well, it certainly seems obvious. You just go outside and look up. Yup, its blue. But stop and think about it for a second. When you say blue, do you really mean the same thing as everyone else. How do you learn colors? Someone has to point to something blue, and tell you what that color is. But are you and them seeing the same thing? What if, when I call something blue I'm actually seeing the color you call red. We all look at the same thing and call it the same color, because we've been taught to associate the color we see with the word "blue." You would hold up something blue, and I would call it blue, because that's what I've been taught red is called!

And besides, there's always the possibility that this whole world is just an illusion anyway, and that neither Stonehenge nor the sky exist at all. In reality, there is only one certainty: that *I* exist. Everything else could just be an illusion; an elaborate backdrop to my own personal fantasy. But I think that's probably pretty unlikely.

I've used that whole 'how do I know the "blue" you see is the same "blue" I see' discussion since I was 12 and I've never seen anyone 'get' it much less articulate it so much better.

I am in awe of you.

I saw it when I was 6 in 1952 - awaiting some restoration and tidying up.

We had a lovely trip to see relatives down South and will never forget the awesome sight.

I believe that those are photos of the new factory under construction in Dearborn for building Edsels.

Are you sure the photos aren't of Clonehenge from the 1954 movie The Black Knight?

In 1969, the rock group Ten Years After released the album "Stonedhenge."

Sample lyric:

There's a God and a Devil
I know it must be
But why should I bother them
They don't bother me
