I have no faith in the PR BS that the LDS machine spews but here's what they say.

Packer is getting his licks in while he still can. They must have voted to override him and change it a little. After all, wouldn't want to embarrass Mitt or Harry while they are running for office.

carried away when he delivered it. His true meaning was the spoken word. But whoever runs things wanted the talk to retain ambiguity between gays or just regular old sinful acts. You can't spend millions of dollars on Prop 8 and turn around and claim the talk wasn't against gays. His message and intent came through the ambiguity loudly and clearly.
