Help with a fact about JS

So I ran across this quote by Don Carlos on his death bed where he told Joseph that he just wanted him to be an honest man. It was read in the context of his hidden polygamy. Is this the correct context?

Yes, I am pretty sure it is. But Joe married Agnes, Don Carlos's wife, shortly after her husband died.

After Joe and Hyrum were killed, she married a nonMormon and moved to California. Her daughter, born Josephina Smith, became Ina Coolbrith, California's first poet laureate.
