. . . to the surface eventually. It was just a matter of time for that to happen--and for the doodle that was sure to follow:

I've been fascinated by how many news outlets only got enraged after he termed it "THE Negro (or Nigrah in his slang)." He got it from his environment. Those of us who grew up during the Black penishood ban heard it put that way MANY times in church, seminary, religion classes. I even remember a book on my dad's bookshelf called, "The Church and the negro."

But I really wish he would use the word my mother still uses that sends shivers up my spine, "coloreds." Gotta love how the mormons rally around people like him and the fakey duck guys. They love it when someone else expresses their racism so they don't have to.

OMG!

Thank you Steve Benson for bringing this true Mormon to light. He's the new spokesman for the LDS Church and his missionary work is bringing new (racist rednecks) folks into the fold.

Ezra Taft Benson, fellow racist, would have Clive Bundy's mormon prophet to obey and worship, right?

It's like Bundy learned at E.T. Benson's knee and then went one step further, reading all the related white supremacist literature.

Whoops, omission big enough to obscure my meaning? I meant to say:

"Ezra Taft Benson, fellow racist, would have BEEN Clive Bundy's mormon prophet to obey and worship, right?"

Bundyville, Arizona. Cleon Skousen, Governor Mecham, Ezra Taft Benson, prophet McKay and racist rancher Cliven Bundy all seem to fit in the same category. Crazy-a$$ed mormons.

Nice-- I love your work!
For this one, I would've loved to see a picture of BY in the background or something tying Bundy to mormonism...

Love the American flag in the cartoon, Steve -- just one of several telling details. Nicely done.

The flag of the nonexistent federal government, which Bundy does fly in real life as well as in the cartoon.

Oh, I'm pretty sure Bro. Bundy recognizes the federal
government and it's flag up until about the point in
history when the Star-Spangled Banner was written.

But, with passage of the 14th Amendment that corrupt
Gentile institution dissolved itself forever. Pres.
Hayes admitted as much by agreeing to withdraw
"rogue" federal dragons from the South, in order to
be made commander in chief of an army that no longer
existed, and chief executive of a vanished Union.

Straight out of the pages of the 1877 Deseret News...

Good point. The 14th amendment no doubt marks the turning point for Bundy and his cronies.

Great cartoon, Steve. You really captured the irony of the pot calling the kettle negro.

His Republican buddies are deserting him like rats fleeing a sinking ship.
Poor feller, getting lonesome?

But his rhetoric is so basic to many fringe groups (well,
they used to be on the fringe, now they're powerful)
that it will not fade away.

Give the situation just a little cooling off time, and
support for his worldview will re-emerge, and he'll be
called an "inarticulate" patriot (one who does not use
the code words and dog whistles properly).

In the meanwhile there are reportedly over 100 armed
paramilitary types holding Bunkerville a virtual hostage.

No doubt the "protective" compound walls and watchtowers
will be erected asap. Also, Bundy's septic tanks must be
about overflowing by now -- time for sewage construction.

Where do these "summer soldiers" get their money -- their
food -- their bullets? Are they all independently wealthy?

Man, I wish I were there at that little gathering. "Tell me what else you know about the Negro, Cliven. In fact, tell me what you know about them engines too while you're at it. Do you know anything about them there Mexicans?"

It would be like that scene in Napoleon Dynamite when the guys were like "so, Napoleon tell me more about hunting wolverines with your cousins"

What he said was poorly worded, but I agree with his intent, as does the black man and woman in the videos below.

Before the so-called war on poverty, the rate of illegitimacy among blacks was 13%. It is now over 70%. So government checks reward single parent families, with the result being higher crime and poverty, as the last video shows with many statistics.

So the question is, which is worse, the slavery that ended in the 1800's, or the current slavery to a government check?

Of course, those who worship government don't want to hear this, just like TBMs don't like us to question their faith.

And I will add, those who worry about a slowdown in government growth can rest easy. There will always be a way to discredit those who point out the overreach of government.

Too many worship government as their savior - it will keep them safe, provide healthcare, education, food, housing, etc, etc. It can manage all our land for us, and will police the world, getting rid of all the bad guys, with no repurcussions!

And not only that, but it is essentially free!

This is the new religion. Much better than church.

That Bundy guy will work his mouth until the nation knows what a backwoods, uniformed and utterly Mormo-weirdo he actually is. His support is falling away quickly. The TV clips of the supporters he's got around him are frightening. A bunch of ultra-right gun-toting wingnuts. I wouldn't be surprised if he's attracting all sorts of white supremacists and racists.
