Working in Utah Valley certainly has its challenges, especially when 90% of my coworkers are uberLDS. Daily I hear conversations about "wards", "stakes", "temple sessions", "family home evenings", "callings", etc. If I hadn't been raised LDS, I know I would be very confused about the context of these words.

Gay rights/marriage has me on FIRE right now. Hearing BKP's talk at the last general conference stoked some embers that I thought had already gone out.

Today I have already had it out with them about origins of the native american peoples, and just a few minutes ago we had it out about homosexuality and genetics, plus gay marriage and if it's really "immoral" or not.

*sigh*

Is this really worth it? Can you fight crazy?

But you can state your opinions. You can plant seeds.

You might be just the catalyst one other person there needed to start thinking about all those issues that they try not to remember.

Anything is better than keeping it bottled up.

Oh hell no. You can't argue with ingrained stupidity. As I've said before:

"Beware of stupid people in large groups".

I think the gay rights movement has shown that persistent work, over time, by a small group of dedicated people can educate enough of the masses to enable change.

If nobody stands up to the ignorance, nothing will change.

utlaura, you are my hero for the week.

Thank you, MJ!

It's the line where ignorance and faith meet that really is the hardest to approach. Some are smart, educated people who are rational in most things, but when they bring their faith into it, reason goes out the window.

Little seeds... I can do that - plant seeds. I just have to figure out how to do so without my fiery personality getting in the way! :)

Thus far: I've shown sources that state homosexuality IS found in nature. I've shown a BYU professor's opinion that homosexuality is definitely biologically connected (Bill Bradshaw is the professor's name).
