A couple of years ago, the New Yorker ran an article about Michele Bachmann. In that article, Bachmann said how a Swiss theologian named Francis Schaeffer was a big influence on her beliefs. It's clear that Schaeffer's Dominionist teachings were taken to heart by America's religious right, who are now very in-your-face with what should be their personal religious beliefs and lifestyle choices. Were these teachings also taken to heart by Mormonism and part of why Mormonism changed so much in the 1980s?

I asked this because I've read how the Mormon church changed pretty significantly in the 1980s and wondered if Schaeffer's religious extremism played a part in those changes. Thanks in advance for your responses.
