Something just popped up in my mind... A while back when I was goofing around in the reular LDS forum, the discussion of "why nobody questions the prophets" came up.
One of the long-standing TBM members chimed in with,
"Because we believe that the prophets are of God. Their words and decisions are inspired by the holy spirit. Therefore they would never / could never mislead us."
So I replied with:
"Oh really? Would / could never mislead you? Aren't you placing WAY too much trust in person? Are these prophets still human beings? Do they have their own individual thoughts and opinions? Do they still have their own free will? If so, then they absolutely CAN mislead. Weather by choice, or by accident-- they can. You should never blindly follow anyone."
Of course, they came back with their silly aruments about how "trust is important" as if they had never heard a word I said. But hopefully, there were a few smart lurkers, lol.
