Aaaarrrgggghhh!

Not to brag or anything, but I am one of the largest employers in my county. I own the largest childcare center in the area with about 15 employees.

We need some maintenance done to our facility and my wife (the other owner) wants it done on the cheap so she asks for referrals. One of our friends TBM in another ward recommends this guy.

He comes in and talks to my wife.
He isn't licensed and bonded, etc., because his wife took away everything from him in the divorce so he can't get bonded or lost it. His first wife cost him his car repair shop.

Then I find out after this he also has a felony, but he wants a Home Depot Credit card so he can get whatever he needs to fix up the place. Then we have to make this stipulation that I have to be here to babysit him at night, because I don't trust he won't take stuff.

Now, I may be able to handle this if the guy wasn't such a belligerent know it all a-hole. He had my wife in tears twice today for buying the WRONG faucets, and the one he did put in, with a bunch of extra little contraptions is leaking real badly. And to top all that off the supplies I bought for his projects are in his van.

We told him he needed to come in and get the sink he put ins leak fixed, and then leave us all the supplies and we would cut him a check for his work.

The guy is complaining about how he doesn't have any money, but then buys 20 dollars worth of food for himself (which really isn't my business, but dude, don't complain about money and then get 3 or 4 combo meals at McDonalds) I had to go with him for supplies we needed, because I AIN'T giving him a card.

How come me, the apostate, and my assistant director had to team up on my wife and say WE both got the freakin 'stupor of thought' about this guy, while her, the TBM with the spirit of discernment couldn't tell this guy was bad news from the get go...

Because she wanted to save a few freaking bucks.

Dude, the reason you aren't married is that you are a jerk. If we have only know you 1 day and you are acting like that, how will you be when we get to know you better and you're not reserved.

TBMS...if someone asks you for a referral, don't refer your hard down on their luck case to ME! They can repent and come back to the loving arms of father in heaven using another business to sucker!

You should look into Angie's list. It will save you a lot of regret later.

Like Dave said,,,,

I want to hear three things.

1. This is what I want.

2. How much will this cost me?

3. How soon can you get it done?

If you don't know #1 or #2, #3 doesn't mean a thing.

Can you do it cheaper?

I gave you my best price first.

Can you do as a * side job*?

I'm self employed, there is no such thing as a *side job*.

I'll pick up the material.

That'll be extra.

My truck doesn't run on *free*.

Neither does yours.

Is my time worth less than yours?

AND you'll bring me the wrong stuff.

Cheaper stuff usually means more time,,for me.

You save a dime, I spend a dollar.

License / Bonded / Insured?

This is some what of joke.

Yes, I do hold a state license, in my *trade*, electrical. My state requires a test for my trade. It requires a *state license* for commercial, industrial work.

Most cities just say, * a state license*, for residential. Then they don't have to give you a test, themselves.

Insurance?

The state requires 500k, just so I can have a license.

A certain city requires 1 million.

I have 5 million.

Bonded?

A *completion bond* is basically a *bail bond*.

I hereby promise to complete the following work,,,or someone will chase me down, to recover the money.

I don't know if an insurance company will give a bond, to a person. It usually goes to the city.

Can I do other work?

Oh, I can and do other work. And I can do it well.

Do I need a Permit?

Only if you want it Inspected.

Can I do xyz?

No.

I can get someone, and help them do it, as part of a larger job?

Yes.

AND I will warranty it.

Even if I have to break arms, legs, promise concrete shoes, the very will to live (OK, that may be pushing it).

An old plumber's joke:

Three things to know about plumbing:

Hot is on the left, sh!t runs downhill and payday is on Friday.

I forgot a couple of things...

My religion has,,,,, nothing to do with my work, or my services.

Or my clothes,,,,,. I like to wear a kilt, or a skirt, if you must say so,,,clothes have nothing to do with services rendered.

It's a dirty business.

As we are all wh@rs.

..
...
....

Do you perform services rendered, in exchange of money?

Yep, we are all wh@res.

Oh, and a friend says,,,,,

Your most important tool is:

.............

Your checkbook.

Rule #1 in my life experience. Never, ever do business with TBM's. Especially if it's a supposed good deal. They may not be having sex, but they have no problem screwing you.

Dont do it.
