Many pets are scared of the loud sounds of the fireworks. They can become disoriented.

One of our dog park friends had their dog jump their fence and get hit by a car on the freeway when the fireworks started two years ago.

Please make an extra effort to make your pets feel safe and secure.

Have a great fourth every one!

Sadly I lost a pup on a july 4th many years ago.
We put him in the garage so he would not be frightened.
A family member opened the garage door and unknowingly let him out. He was hit by a car before I could get to him.

My furbaby is terrified by fireworks and thunder. We are spending the day locked in the house, windows closed, stereo blasting.

She responds well to a DAP collar. It's kind of like giving her a couple glasses of wine. Real terror won't fully set in until dark when everything blows up at once.

It seems to calm him down when he get's too high-strung. Just an idea for anyone with dogs.

I'm watching my mom's and my eight year old chihuahua along with my own pup tonight. I wish he had one, he gets so anxious and scared.

They should be open today if you have time to run out and get one.

We have both here, but the hubs doesn't want to drive anywhere. We are staying home tonight, as long as he is glued to me I think he'll be okay. My monster usually hides under the living room table by our feet.

Our neighborhood turns into Beirut every July 4th.

Since July 4 2007 (when Prepton was just 4 months old I have watched SWAT. It was the loudest movie I could find then and has turned into a "thing". I thought I might be able to drown out the firework noise for him.

All of my families fur babies are safe and secure. People are doing fireworks from their homes and the city is about to start theirs. Poncho is laying down on the bed asleep by my foot. But hrs safe and secure!

I am lucky. I took mine out in front to watch the neighborhood fireworks. One went to sleep and the other seemed to like watching them until he got bored and started sniffing around. We used to have a dog who was terrified of any loud noises.
