Just wanted to let you know, I finished the list today. It's 613 line items. I had to resort it for the final publish so all the line item #s are changed but it's done now. And I won't be changing the numbers anymore so they can be used as a reference.

It's official! Mormons have just as many rules as the Pharisees.

and just include the Mormon scriptures and the Handbook of Instructions, how many would you have.

I am interested in how many MORE rules Mormons have that Christians don't have.

PS - AWESOME JOB! Congratulations...:)

@anagrammy,

Easy, the answer is 612, all a Christian needs is faith.

Of course there is a lot of potential for crunching numbers on this data. One interesting observation is how many more gender specific commandmentsthe women have compared to the men. Almost twice as many

There is a link at the bottom of the website where you can download the spreadsheet. You could sort it any way you like.

that one of the ideas (later called heresies) that was bubbling when Paul wrote his letters was that grace increased in the world as sin increased, therefore the disciples (not called Christians yet) should sin MORE!

He wrote a stringent contradiction and set them straight.

I have always thought Mormonism was an Old Testament religion, a denial of Christ's fulfillment as represented in the New Testament.

91 Allow all men the privilege to worship how they may Article of Faith #11 Command Creed
.

92 Allow all men the privilege to worship what they may Article of Faith #11 Command Creed
.

93 Allow all men the privilege to worship where they may Article of Faith #11 Command Creed

Just thought I would help

But wait... if the Articles of Faith allow me to worship WHAT I may, then I could worship the native deities of Scandinavia - Odin, Thor, Freya and so on. And if I want to worship them with "blot", I could! The Articles of Faith allow me to!

Lastly, they allow me to worship where I may. Does this include Utah?

Or.. less controversially... if I were Jewish, why wouldn't they let me enter the temple to worship the Lord there?

Great job, that must have taken hours of poring over what passes for scripture in that cult. Whew!

I wonder in #2 if first, ANYONE would go to confessing to their Bishop after joining an apostate sect. Secondly, do they mean the FLDS?

Mormons are guilty of violating #8: I don't see them killing false prophets, least of all their own!

I am more and more convinced that the church really doesn't believe in the Atonement. Sure, they pay lip service to the idea of being forgiven and made perfect, but you have to work yourself almost to death to be "worthy" of grace. Think of how many church leaders and members have sneered at the "easy grace" of other Christians.

I'm not sure I believe in Christianity anymore, but I'd take the easy grace over the soul-crushing perfectionism of Mormonism any day.

It took about 10 days of working on it for about 8-12 hours a day.

1. Wow ... what a list ... you've inspired me to go back because I'm missing so much in my life :) Just kidding ;)

2. On #451 your reference value is "#ERROR!". The DCP wannabes will rip you to shreds online over this error ;)

Don't stick a fork in the list just yet. God has a really bad track record of changing. There will be an endless list of edits, changes, revisions, revocations, and outright denials from our never changing god.

My TBM friend is denying that this is what the church teaches. He says the church does not say we have to keep ALL these commandments before grace kicks in.

Quotes from church leaders on keeping EVERY commandment, please?

Begin gordon hinkley voice: <What a wonderful thing has been set before us. Never before in the history of the church, yea, even the world have we been blessed with such clarity, even the clarity of rules we are commanded to follow.> end voice over

Can the link be given prominent space in the "thinking about joining mormonism" section, and on the exmormon.org home page?

What a silly waste of time. When I was PS&R for an apostate group, I covered it all in one. "That which is not compulory is forbidden; that which is not forbidden is compulsory."

Isn't the "unloading his beast" updated to the modern EQ call to help someone unload their Uhaul?

"Mother should defer to her male child in spiritual matters if husband is away. Such as chosing who should pray."

"OH GOD, HEAR THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH... THANK YOU FOR DELIVERING ME FROM THIS TWISTED FREAKN CULT!"

Good job! Reminded me how thankful I am for freedom from the cult!

In the ward I grew up in & was a member of until I was 25, I saw so many single moms struggling through life because of this. They would pin all their spiritual guidance on their young sons, who had the penishood. The moms barely acted like they were heads of their households, & these boys didn't give a damn & didn't want the responsibility.
