I didn't really want to go that far... I was hoping they might have come to their senses by now.
I wonder if they get paid big bucks to be the smiling face of Mormonism? They always had that soulless Brady Bunch thing going on.
I'd just like to address that one phrase. It suggests that the Brady Bunch was soulless. Granted the show was awfully white-bread, but it was quality entertainment for the "tweener" set, especially.
I'd say "second-rate Brady Bunch types, lacking the soul."
Then again, maybe I just never got over my crush on Maureen McCormick!
Or, sorry for the extreme enthusiasm. The Osmonds are a sensitive area for me.
I ridiculed them as a child (their good-goodiness) all the while secretly wishing I was Marie.
They are what brought me to may lifelong fascination with Moism even though I am a nevermo.
They are all very religious, especially Donny.
Even though I was pretty damning in the above post, the reality is that's what they are.
They truly are media hounds and have never let go of the love for fame they cultivated in the 1960's and 70's. Unfortunately, the world has passed them (as it does all teenage heartthrobs) by and they don't want to let go of the attention.
They use their former fame (and the devotion of their aging fans) to sell everything from ceramic dolls to fruit preserves--I'm not kidding.
Ha! I wanted to marry Donny :) Even after I went to Ricks...I was hoping that since I lived in Utah I might have a better chance at it...My mom told me that we used to live by them when we were very little and lived in North Ogden - I guess the dad was a CPA or something...I can't remember and by now I am not interested at all....
To be sure, three of them have divorced. But remember, they are still the most wholesome family EVAH, and you are supposed to be in awe of how much more wholesome they are than their showbiz peers.
Not to bag on them, but they are projected as uber-wholesome Mo's yet have the same personal problems as practically everyone else in showbiz. I think there are several country music stars who don't make a big deal out of their "wholesomeness" but are probably living less self-indulgent, more "Christian", lives than the Osmond clan.
Virl and his family lived in my ward in Simi Valley in about 1981 or so. I recall their son, who was my age, was tired about being asked if he knew Donny and Marie. But the kids were happy to get the benefits of the reflected stardom as I recall.
Donny even visited our ward once, but since I was only semi-active, I missed it. It was big news. The chapel was full of people from the other Simi wards that day.

From what I can gather she has had an interesting time since the wedding, which has included a short arena tour in the UK and a much extended honeymoon period with trips to Florida and the Bahamas.
Their religious beliefs are beside the point, in my view. Like them or not, they are one of the most successful families in the music business for decades.
RE Marcia Brady.... Jay's daughter-in-law took on the role of Marcia in a 'revival' of the Brady Bunch at a theatre in Branson. Barry Williams was involved with younger cast members playing the various sibliings.
My father did carpentry work on the houses of several family members on Osmond lane in the foothills of Provo. He said the parents were nice, Jimmy was a really nice kid and very down to earth, He never met Donny or Marie, All the other family members he met were asses.
They were such asses that my TBM father referred to them as asses.
