I received this email over the weekend from our EQ President:
"Dear Family & Friends,
We need to keep our children and grandchildren away from watching the VH1 channel. Please pass this on."
Apparently a new naked dating show is going to be airing soon. I doubt I would have ever known it was going to be on TV but I will be setting my DVR now for sure.
Don't they realize the more they "advise" against the more people will want to see whats is going on. I know even though I don't watch Vh1 I will definitely be watching now lol
In the 70's there was a letter sent out church wide to not watch a certain tv station. They asked everyone to write a letter telling the station they didn't approve. Apparently the station had decided to air R rated movies.
The station ignored the mormons. The mormons gave many talks about the last days being upon us.
It is a little irresponsible of the networks to show as much plain out sex on tv now days (have you seen Salem?) without allowing condom commercials to air. The only time I see an add on is way after the fact when I would already be in bed, or on the couch, or table, or where ever a tv isn't.
When I was in High School, the "brethren" warned us not to watch the show, Soap. We didn't even have TV at our house, but I loved to babysit. I remember being a goody goody, but I watched that show every chance I got. I guess the seeds were there...
Soap still stands as one of the sitcoms of all time. Even the best shows are occasionally hit and miss, but Soap had a perfect track record--not a single badly written episode.
To follow up, my dad would watch Soap but when they finally got cable they would not allow MTV. Back then MTV was actually about music. It had to be someone in the church that cautioned them against letting us watch MTV.
Yeah, I remember a woman I visit taught was aghast that they actually had a cable station that had videos to songs and that some of the videos were 'suggestive". She warned all of us NOT to watch MTV. haha
