Granted, I don't have a ton of FB friends, but so far Zero ads on my feed. This is shaping up to be another Million Mormons on FB. Only about 25,000 signed up.
So far I have seen nothing unusual other than an uncle who never posts sharing a meme about a dead president's opinion of gawd. I think at least a third of my FB friends are TBM relatives.
Maybe word is getting out to mormons that the BoM has some issues.
When I get mormon stuff from family, they get to hear my POV in return. I think there is more of that going on in these later latter days -- more people have access to contrary information.
I do exactly the same thing. I do it very politely, but I make use of each opportunity to discuss the issues and put them in the spotlight. It may not always persuade the TBM's but it reminds them of the issues, and it ensures they are there for any non members to see.
Today one of my Facebook friends, who is a really great family man and mormon, shared on Facebook the link to 14 year old Helen Mar Kimball's journal account of marrying Joseph Smith. I need to ask him what he thinks about it. It's great because now all of his TBM friends and others can read wivesofjosephsmith.org at their leisure. Times are changing.
Only Mormon related item on my FB is the reminder that Thursday is the Pioneer celebration for Exmos at the Hotel Utah saloon in San Francisco. Sadly, we can't be there this year.
Their testimonies have changed recently when President Newsroom informed them that the Book of Mormon wasn't actually translated from gold plates....now they're unclear about what to say about it.
It almost sounds like a risky move to promote the BoM on FB these days. It opens them up to possible push back by some inactive, former or never Mormon who has information which challenges the authenticity of the BoM. And then that information is available for all your TBM friends to see.
After I actually looked at the invite, Flood FB on July 22 was initiated by my friend's local ward missionaries. So the lack of response isn't too surprising. But all of your responses indicate an epic fail whenever its tried.
