According to a thread called Exposing Mormonism on blogspot.com on November 17, 1978 Dallin Oaks made a 2 hour presentation to the First Presidency and then to all the GA's concerning the making of an anti-gay book. The anti-gay book was to be written by CES, approved by a GA, published by a popular Eastern Press and have no appearance of a connection with the church. The book was to be used as secular evidence to back up the church's claims on homosexuality. In 1978, I really did think god spoke to these men. Today I call this kind of stuff "Lying for the Lord". No revelation from god but perhaps they used their special reverse revelation to convince themselves their plan of torture on gays was what god would have wanted them to do.

During this time period when Dallin Oaks was at BYU, there were Shock Treatments on gays, sting-operations, police investigations and even student on student spying. The student on student spying reminds me of the recent video made of the BYUI President encouraging students to report on roommates that masturbate. A never changing church.

It appears truthful and correlates with my personal knowledge of rumors I heard during the early 1980's about the church using shock treatments on gays at BYU and also in Arizona near ASU.

It makes me wonder what kind of man Dallin Oaks really is to have used his position of power to inflect shock treatments, police stings with arrest along with excommunications to students he was in charge of for not only their education but also their emotional well being and safety. Not a POLICE STATE university.

What kind of church president will Dallin Oaks be? Will he bring the Danites back? Will the members of the church be hunted down like crimminals for not paying a complete tithe or not attending any and all meetings? Will there be no free thought or speech allowed at church?

Not only was Dallin Oaks involved but Tommy ShockTheraphy Monson was the lead GA on this secret torture of students.

Assuming the blog is correct and all the GA's knew in advance and approved the torture of gays in the Church, it is no wonder to me that they have quit pretending to speak with god as apostles and prophets but gave themselves a stupid title as a "Special Witness to the Name of JC" which means nothing.

So the history of the LDS religion is: we have the men that are supposed to speak for god having sex with married women and children (JS). The men that speak for god killing for plunder (BY). The men that speak for god planning torture. I know the list can go on and on of evil doing by the lord's annointed.

Are these kinds of actions a god of love or a god of hate such as SATAN would cause to happen?

If it looks like a pig, walks like a pig, stinks like a pig and acts like a pig - it must be a pig.

Do you think Dallin Oaks got to watch the gays get electro shocked when they got excited watching gay porn? Did he get off on his enjoyment of others pain?

My experience has been that when a minister goes overboard on a certain type of sin, that is usually what he struggles with himself.

If these things are true, Mr Oaks is a pretty sick guy. If he takes the reins of the church, and acts like such a monster then, I think a LOT of people who may have been wavering will jump ship.

Could be the best thing that ever happened to the church, as we see it.

I personally know somebody who was administered shock therapy in the 90s.

Is in her late 30's as well; that's consistent with the practice being carried on into the 90's...

Does this not hearken back to Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia?

Oaks has always struck me as creepy. He was president of BYU when I was there and I met him a few times. He seemed so cold, calculating, and analytical, not spiritual at all. I was way surprised he was made a GA.

In his pictures now he still looks creepy to me, even evil. He's incapable of a genuine smile or genuine empathy. Apostle of God?! Hardly.

Dallin Oaks was president of BYU when I was there. He put the school's reputation as an extension of the church itself above all else. He was eerily Nazi-like about it and you got the feeling he would have sacrificed anything and anyone to get the job done.

Some think the standards at BYU are religious based. They are in place because the old money who donate to education likes their university students to match their old time ideal of "clean cut." That's what brings in the investments.

In general the Big 15 may be inept, insincere, condescending, self-serving, and arrogant, but Oaks stands out as pure evil. It shows on his face and in his demeanor. He makes my skin crawl.

This was all in the past, so it does not matter.

Back around late 60's or early 70's, my ex-girlfriend's Heritage Halls dorm father got caught in a gay sting stakeout in a Y-Center restroom. He responded to foot tapping from the adjacent toilet stall. The restroom was immediately swarmed by BYU Security and he was hauled to the Administration Building basement, interrogated, and his wife was brought in to assist with the humiliation.

He recounted his amazing story personally to me during a massage at Breitenbush Hot Springs, Oregon several years ago. (He was working as a massage therapist.) His name was vaguely familiar to me, so we retraced our respective global trotting back several years and discovered that we had intersected at BYU.

Then he told me his amazing story.

To me, Oaks is the worst of the Q15. He's probably got the most intelligence but sold his soul early on for his kingdom at the Y.

Doesn't it give you warm fuzzies to know that this prick was also on the Utah Supreme Court? No mingling of church and state in the Beehive State.

I know 2 men who were tortured at kimball tower at BYU around '79-'80.

On one they used electroshock to the genitals.

On the other they used nausea inducing drugs.

Oaks, Monson and the other ghouls of the BYU torture chamber are criminals.

I will have to refute this. I wrote some software for a psychiatrist in SLC who was known as "Dr. Shock" and helped pioneer in Utah the use of shock treatment for gays in the 80's/90's. There was even a news segment devoted to this "therapy"!

The electrode delivering the shock was attached to the arm of the "subject". There was an electrode attached to the genitals to detect arousal while the "subject" was being shown clips of porn movies depicting scenes of heterosexual activities and then homosexual activities. The subject also held the "button". If arousal happened during the homosexual activities, a shock was self-delivered by pressing the button. The idea was to condition the "subject" to have no arousal while viewing homosexual sex acts. Again, this shock was not delivered to the genitals but to the arm. By the way, if the patient did not press the button, the doctor would deliver the shock from his console.

I have no knowledge about the pharmaceutical methodology.

Brutal. In my mind, it was nothing but torture.

Yes you're right. The sensors were attached to the genitals to detect arrousal in both cases. I misspoke when I stated that they were shocked in the genitals.

I agree that all of the techniques that were employed constitute torture.

They are also now illegal in the Civilized State of California.

I remember news stories in the Provo Daily Herald about "perverts" being caught in BYU restrooms. This was when I was growing up in Provo. The way they got the guys was by blackmail. They'd tell them that they had a choice of the treatments or being kicked out of school and having their parents informed of their infractions. Not a good set of choices!
