I heard that Dr. Reye, of Dr, 90210 fame, is LDS. On the show, he refers to "Christian missionaries" who rescued him from the slums of Sau Paulo in Brazil. He wound up in Utah at age 12, which indicates the missionaries were Mormons. THe main reason I am watching the episodes on Netflix is that he's very, very hot.

He doesn't seem too LDS. He constantly talks about women's breasts, often inappropriately. I realize he's a plastic surgeon who specializes in breast augmentation, but there's something pretty sexual about his interactions with the patients. Also, he tends to wear clothing that indicates he is NOT wearing temple garments.

I wonder if the show wanted to downplay his Mormonism.

"Rey and his siblings moved to Utah, where they were adopted by a Mormon religious community."

............"Warren, is this one of your guys?"

I'd seen some episodes of his show years ago and got the impression that he's a very superficial person. His wife seems to spend most of her time not eating and all that seems to mean the most to the family is looks, status, and materiality. Being a breast augmentation specialist seems to fit perfectly. It's kind of a shame because he seems smart and talented.

Rey is a narcissistic creep. Everything he does is to boost his own ego. & then he puts his existence in danger by performing stunts that could injure him & end his medical career.

& his poor wife. There she was with an eating disorder, & I could tell she didn't want to be on TV, but I could see that she couldn't say no & disappoint her husband.

He's not Mormon. But he was taken to live with Orson Scott Card's family in Utah as a child. There's an episode where he returns to Utah with his wife and children to visit the Cards and introduce them to his wife. He had not seen them since he was a child and wanted to thank them. They are elderly and said very sweet things about how they always he knew he would be a success and that he was a delight to have in their home as a foster child. He credits them for saving his family by taking him and his siblings out of the slums of Brazil. His mother stayed behind for a couple years then came to the US and was reunited with her children. He seems to have never seen the Cards again after his mother got to the US.

Sometimes you might notice there's a picture of a temple on the wall in his house. Neither he nor his wife wear garments nor practice Mormonism. But I think he feels very grateful for the influence it had on his life and doesn't see a problem having a temple picture or having picked up some Mormon gestures or language.

True story. He is LDS or was when I met him in 2007. I was in the Huntington Beach CA pierside singles ward and he showed up with 2 investigators that he brought. He was about 47 at the time and looked better than most of us there. Haha. He was super nice and interestingly he said he believed on doing whatever you do to do it well. He said that he listens to General Conference while doing his surgeries. I’m not kidding about that. I was blown away. It’s weird because that doesn’t totally square with his public image but he was such a nice guy and this visit did happen.

"He said that he listens to General Conference while doing his surgeries."

That seems like something the patient should listen to as a backup for the anesthetic.

It is the patient who is supposed to receive anesthetic not the doctor.
