Did Joseph Smith really have this prophesy because Mitt Romney said that the Mormon Church does not stand behind it? Is this correct or are the Mormons waiting for this to be fulfilled?

The Mormon church considers the White Horse Prophesy to be spurious.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Horse_Prophecy

"Although some elements of the statement were confirmed by contemporary LDS Church leaders as having been taught by Smith, the prophecy as a whole has never been officially acknowledged or accepted, and it has been repudiated by the LDS Church since 1918."

Google is your friend, btw.

LOL GC. I don't know what you're getting at with this, an attempt at showing some kind of proof that LDS inc is false and attempt at conversion to another brand of religion :) (I enjoyed the debates yesterday). This prophecy is the least of the mormons worries. JS certainly did not intend for this prophecy to be fulfilled almost 200 years later. This was only one of all the rest of his prophecies that were never fulfilled.

There are much better ways at exposing fraud. It must be done smartly, and not by trying to convince people of dumb stuff that no one cares about.

Read RJ's post yesterday which very colorfully demonstrates a mormon's perception of what an anti-mormon is:

We need to be smart about spreading the truth, and to do so, we can't be spreading lies at the same time.

I should add that with respect to the white horse prophecy, JS thought that the second coming would happen around 1890. Also, he was running for president, so he probably considered himself to be the white horse. The arrogant bastard that he was.

If you read MormonThink.com from beginning to end you will acquire answers to most of your questions about Mormonism.

he's far more interested in "teaching", preaching and converting. Mark my words, he'll slip up again sometime soon and be banned from the board.

I know, I was trying to keep him busy and out of our hair. At least for a while.
He's probably praying for us all as we speak.

You can't tell me you couldn't walk into any Mormon home in Utah and hear them yapping and snarling about the Elders of Zion saving the U.S. Constitution which shall be yea verily EVEN hanging by a thread...

Sure, they don't "officially" put it out there as official cult prophecy. Whatever.

Do they all to the very last BiC TBM Blood Atoner believe it 100% all the way deep deep down to the bottom of their dark and loathesome little hearts?

Ohhellsyeah.

I'd swear to it but iirc you're BiC. I was a forced convert but we probably crossed paths, maybe in the same hallways and later the same bars. Makes me smile.

Just goes to show RfM's charter is true: We are not alone in this.

BiC. Forced baptism at 8. Etc., etc., etc.

I hope we did clink beer bottles in some suave bar somewhere along the journey.

Cheers!

... they are decried as spurious ... until some aspect of them seems somewhat fulfilled by current events ... then the morgbots are thumping their chests and witnessing that they knew it all along ... and the church is TWUE!!!!

After 9/11/2001 a lot of TBMs were claiming that this fulfilled the BofM prophecy of Nephi's dream of the great and spacious building

Yeah, I can see why. They are right. That's it, I'm going back to church LOL

Plenty of mormons believe in it, and past prophets discussed it. Does the church have to endorse it now for it to count?

I do remember my TBM dad back in '08 saying that he hoped Mitt wouldn't get in as he figured that would be a sign the end is near. Ironic no?

I can give a very nice blessing for him to be open minded but I usually like a sure bet before I bless

I think I will light some incense now
