Just taking a few minutes from the wedding preparations to say how excited we are. The hubby-to-be and I have been coordinating our whole shindig by ourselves to save dough, and while it's been stressful to do all this stuff by ourselves, we've been enjoying it a lot.

When we're married, I'll be just a few months shy of a decade out of Mormonism, and I can say that my life is such much the better for it. I could have been miserable forever in that cult, but now, it's a bit of a distant memory. My honey makes me a better man, and I am so insanely over-the-moon happy. This future was so unforeseeable and much better than anything I could have imagined.

I want to thank everyone here who encouraged me along the way, and I hope I was able to help some people too.

All my best,

Tyson

Good luck with your wedding plans! I'm helping my daughter with her wedding and am really enjoying it too. Just knowing what a special day this will be for you both makes it all worth it!

I am sure it is going to be picture perfect because you are so very picky! It is a good thing you are great with details :). I hope you are going to have it recorded? I sure wish I was more of a traveler so I could be there. It is truly amazing how much you have grown. And you are so damn happy! I swear pics look like you are floating at least three feet off the ground. I am very very proud of the hard work you have done :) And if anyone tries to spoil your special occasion I will get my stick and beat them black and blue. TWICE!

We have tried not to be too controlling, but we have needed to rope vendors a lot. Nearly every one of our vendors has been replaced at least once along the way.

We just spent this evening rewriting the actual ceremony again. It started as a mishmash of existing ceremonies, but we wanted to remove what wasn't us. I think we've got something we can be reasonably proud and where the officiant isn't chewing the scenery.

Anyway, it should have something to please everyone. The only vague allusion to Mormonism is our musician who will play a Protestant hymn used by the Mormons, which doesn't mention God in its first two verses, and which simply has a pretty tune. We have a children's poem and a poem about same-sex marriage. There are no prayers, no blessings, no worship at all. The officiant talks a lot about love and happiness, and we think it's best that way. Most importantly, our vows are written from our hearts and express our feelings the way we feel they should.

All in all, I think things will go fine.
