I am still a newbie. I found this site in January of this year. As my shelf was falling I reached out to Tom Phillips via email for encouragement and advice. He didn't disappoint me. He spoke well of exmormon.org and encouraged me to seek support here. This site has been a treasure to me. Thank you to all of you!

Welcome! I felt much relief when I first found this site within the first few months of its existence. This place still feels like "home", and even though I go away from it for lengthy periods of time, I come back to check in or contribute here and there.

Glad this board is so active.

It would have been about December 2008, but I think I lurked for almost a year before I finally posted something.

I think we were on a different board, or another server back then.

It's addictive - and very informative.

Since 2002. Didn't post until 2004 or so, though.

Been out 18 years and just got here a few months ago. Why? It has been a long recovery.

Not sure about the year, must have been 1996 or 1997. There were 103 bio's on the site when I found it. Lurked for 10 years, got into a few exchanges with RandyJ but nothing major until the summer of 1997 (resigned in November that year).

I do remember developing a strong hatred for this Richard Packham guy with his website full of anti-Mormon lies. A very, very evil apostate in my mind back then.

Man, was I brainwashed...

I only discovered it about a week ago and I'm well and truly hooked. It has been so helpful and inspiring.

I think it was around 2007. I lurked for about six months before I posted. It took about three years for me to get a good grasp of Mormonism and its effects on members, exmos, and their families.

I have been here, on and off, since September of 2002.

My entire family (all fully active TBMs, including one on a mission when I first came here) have either resigned or gone inactiver since then!

I had reconnected with my nonmo boyfriend and he had asked me some tough questions, although I had realized in the summer of 2004 that I no longer believed.

I was still wearing garments in August of 2005 and I asked my therapist how to deal with not wearing them anymore. He suggested I come here to read. This board helped me heal. I'm so much further ahead now than I was then. I like to read here when I'm bored with my work and need a break (which I'm doing right now--I'm scheduled 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every other Sunday, but can take 2 hour breaks here and there).

This board still helps me in dealing with a very TBM daughter, who returned to the lds church about a year after I found this board.

I have been here off and on (mostly off) since the 1990s. My visits here have increased with my proximity to the family. I didn't come here when I lived in Asia, but now that I'm safely and soundly back in 'Merica, it means that my interactions with TBM family members have also increased.

Wasn't sure, but remembered starting to read here about the time I posted a letter to a newspaper editor regarding same sex relationships.

I was shocked to see they not only still carry the letter, but that all this started for me somewhere about 1997, so about 17 years ago for me. And always, with abundant gratitude for those who put forth their time, monies and energies to keep this invaluable site maintained.

The first time I posted was in late 1999 I think early 2000.
I had visited other sites, been reading and posted elsewhere first.

Eventually, when I got to the point that I wanted to pay it forward. Share my experiences and my insight.
