OT -- free genealogy software

Can anybody make a recommendation? I've been using the free version of Legacy, but it's too restricted and I can't pay for the extra features. I've been experimenting with other programs, but none of them seem to offer the default view that Legacy has -- and that one WORKS for me. I tried GRAMPS, but it's buggy and generally horrible. Just tried Family Tree Legends, but I can't get a default view anything even remotely close to Legacy's. I just want something that will let me display data the way Legacy does, but not Legacy, LOL. I've been trying to find something else for years, but either nothing good is out there, or I'm not looking in the right places. I'd really appreciate any recommendations.
