Oh yes. I so want Packer to outlive Monson. If he does, they can't sweep his hateful speeches under the rug like they did with Mark E Peterson and BRM. Look at the damage the Miracle of Forgiveness does. If SWK never made prophet, the horrible little book would have been disowned.

I suspect those excited about a Packer presidency will be disappointed by the results if it actually happens. The Prez doesn't rule by fiat any longer; he's become more like a Chairman of the Board but with better dentures.
Neither JFS nor ETB took the church in radical directions although their histories in the Q12 hinted to some that they might do so. As I recall, our own S. Benson has posted that ETB was effectively reined in as Prez by the other GA's and others within the COB bureaucracy. They can do the same with Cyborg Boyd.
There isn't going to be an epic Packer-led meltdown, sorry to say. He won't even have the clout to appoint his son to fill the vacant Apostle chair. But I do think he'll manage to get his bootlicking waterboy Clayton into the Q12 as a secondary, compromise choice.
Clayton was part of the trio pushing California members into the Prop. 8 disaster. I’ve met Clayton. He’s pompous, arrogant and never wrong. He’s pushing to be a Q12 member (just my intuition based on watching him).
