Just finished watching the movie, "Twelve Years A Slave" and couldn't help but notice
a number of similarities between how the slave owners controlled their slaves
and how TSCC controls its members.

For example, the slave owner strickly forbade his slaves from gettun sum learnin', as it were.
In fact, if a slave demonstrated he/she had any learnin' it could very well cost them their life.

By the same token, TSCC strongly discourages their members from gettun any learnin'
from other than approved sources. In fact, if a member demonstrates any learnin from
"some sources" they're conditioned to think they're on the road to apostacy
that will lead to "Spiritual Death."

That truly is the mark of a cult. JW's are the same way. They say that if you only read the Bible that you'll go into darkness (or something along those lines), but if you only read the Watchtower, that you'll stay in the light.

If you think about it, God sort of told Adam and Eve not to get any "learnin'"... and they were punished when they disobeyed. That's if you believe in God, Adam, and Eve, of course...
