Several years ago I had a friend who had gotten a Ph.D. and written a dissertation on church history and had worked in the Church historians office. He told me the GAs at that time had several objects that were quite interesting, seer stones, a Jupiter Talisman charm, books on necromancy. I've found looking around that this seems to be true, but it's not clear where these items are kept and who has access to them.

Anybody know the current location of the seer stones and jupiter charm?

I have a friend that claims his family has in it's possession the hat that belonged to and was shot off of Brigham Young during a skirmish in Provo, Utah. Sounds interesting though it cannot be confirmed, nor denied, at this time.

My understanding is that they have a few of Smith's peepstones. I find it fascinating that the S.L. temple has occult and masonic images set in stone -- pentagrams, inverted pentagrams, sun and moon symbols, the masonic grip, the all seeing eye.

Of course they have explanations for all of this, as usual.

Why is a church that claims to be a christian organization not challenged more about this. We know JS used a peep stone to translate the Book of Mormon, and they have the stone. If it is a good work it should be revealed to the world in the light of day for everyone to examine and test scientifically. Only works of darkness are kept in darkness. The media should make more of the things the church would like to keep locked up.

Christianity itself is rooted in magical and superstitious thinking. Christ claimed to cure men by rubbing mud in their eyes, and raising the dead. There's not a big gap between that and voodoo / necromancy.

Paul, Christianity's biggest early advocate, had a vision of an angel/god on the road one day. Sound like anything JS might have claimed?

You can't go after the church for having a peep stone without inviting a serious discussion about early Christianity's dependency on magical and occultic thinking.

Baneberry posted this the other day:

Bruce R. Mc Conkie didn't think peep stones were good to use...

From Mormon Doctrine:

Peep Stones
(Peep Stones )
See DEVIL, REVELATION, URIM AND THUMMIM.
In imitation of the true order of heaven whereby seers receive revelations from God through a Urim
and Thummim, the devil gives his own revelations to some of his followers through peep stones or crystal
balls. An instance of this copying of the true order occurred in the early days of this dispensation. Hiram
Page had such a stone and was professing to have revelations for the upbuilding of Zion and the governing
of the Church. Oliver Cowdery and some others were wrongly influenced thereby in consequence of
which Oliver was commanded by revelation: "Thou shalt take thy brother, Hiram Page, between him and
thee alone, and tell him that those things which he hath written from that stone are not of me, and that
Satan deceiveth him." (D. & C. 28:11.)

p. 401

I wonder why Mormon Doctrine is no longer considered mormon doctrine.

Has anyone attempted to ask them which of these items they are holding?

I would think it would be a good project for the LDS church to publish the family journals they requested from pioneer families for 'safekeeping'

At least I hope that someone would ask top LDS management for these things in a very public manner.

I heard all of that crap was in the vault in Cottonwood canyon in some place that is safe from a nuclear attack. Can't take a chance on letting anyone see the SATANISM that is TSCC.
I read somewhere (I will try to find out where), but I read that in the Visitor's Center on Temple square, the huge mural of Jesus is casting a dark shadow over the earth. It is something that people don't pay attn to until it is pointed out for some reason. But, on the site, there is a pic of the mural and it is true. I've been in the Visitor's Center and it is true.
TSCC is dependent on dark and evil things. JS is a perfect example.

To me, vigilant citizen is a little too whacky. And this is coming from a whacky person to begin with. Someone posted here when I asked a similar question that most of the "secret" stuff in Cottonwood canyon is simply memos from the 15's weekly meetings. That could be totally untrue or true, I'll leave it up to you to decide. But from what I've heard, the granite vaults are just full of stupid paperwork that means nothing.

They at least have his peep stones (Grant Palmer said that he saw and handled three of them) and his Jupiter talisman, a special coin designed to protect you. Oddly enough, he was carrying it when he got shot. I'm sure there's more stuff. But the church can't be perceived as "weird," can it?

I know the vaults do exist and they were built during the cold war era, but I don't think the peepstones and the Jupiter charm were kept there in the 1980s. My friend told me that the Church Historian had quick access to these, and they looked at them in an office that was on temple square.

the seer stones entry sitting quietly at the bottom the list is humorous.

Yeah I somehow doubt this a list of everything. Funny they have obscene material in the archive....

Doodlings of the first temple ceremony perhaps?

Messages from J.S. to his intended victims? .... "Come thou hither pretty mama ---less I take thee with my flaming sword."

no offense, s.t.insanity, but:

I just don't see how the list you posted has any cred.

I don't know exactly who make the list, but a list was compiled at some point. Go to mormon-curtain with no dash in-between .com and then go to the index on the right in blue and click on mormon vault for more info of who has quoted going in the vault and taking notes etc.
