Did anyone save KKK's talk that's causing the big brouhaha? Because as sure as begob is begorrah, the LDS cult will take it down and make like it never happened, and I think it would be a good idea for several hundred of us to have it available to put back up just in case it is taken down.

Uhhh yeah. It's already in recorded history and they have already reworded it.

So the original is now gone?

Original? What original? There never was an original. I don't know that we teach that.

:)

As far as I know they haven't been altered.

BKKKP's notorious blooper occurs at about 1:00 minute in the 4-minute clip.

Not to worry, there are several 'archive' websites that take you to previous versions of other web pages.

I had never seen this man before. He's very dyspneic... is he sick? He doesn't look well. I thought I would feel contempt for him, but instead, I feel a profound pity. He seems to be disoriented, lost... he's probably very aware of mormonism's many problems, and I get a feeling he wants out, but now he can't back off. He's tired and doesn't feel anything "spiritual". Poor man. But still, his words cause a lot of damage, and he is responsible for them.

Look in the October 9 LDS Church News, page 17. Packer's talk is summarized there and he is quoted (in quotes) as follows:

"Some suppose that they were pre-set and cannot overcome what they feel are inborn tendencies toward the impure and unnatural. Not so! Why would our Heavenly Father do that to anyone? Remember, He is our Father."

A clue to what President Packer really meant would also exist if someone taped the live presentation and thay can call up the closed captioning as it was originally broadcast. It is probably there also. I know that formerly (and possibly for this conference) all speakers must submit their speeches to review, except the First Presidency.

I suppose the Church News personnel also had a pre-speech text they worked from to get the October 9 edition out.

That's already showing a change in the speech.

Since the original live version is out there, doing a live rerecord would be pointless, although I would not be surprised. Like they did with Ron Poelman in 1984, they could even include a cough track.
