So I seem to have developed a sleeve allergy. Low cut tops and mini-skirts have taken over the closet. Sometimes I think, oh I should cover up for a visit to the TBM in-laws, but I can't find anything "modest" that I can stand to wear in Phoenix heat, so--oh well. The best part of Phoenix summers is the people watching. I love all the tattoos and piercings and wild, bare outfits. When I was TBM, I would alternate tent dresses. I would see a 300 pound plus women in spandex camo shorts and I would be jealous. Now there's someone who puts on exactly what they want and screw anyone who thinks they shouldn't.
My MIL decided to give me a back handed shaming. She was talking about women who don't "cover up their extra weight." How, "these days" heavy women and pregnant women wear tight shirts or let it all hang out and it would looks so much better if they would cover up. I have to confess that in my past I might have tut tutted right along with her. Instead I said I love to people watch and the wilder the outfits and hair, the better. I love to see people's tattoos and piercings. She changed the subject.
I think a lot of it is sour grapes. The poor woman spends 6 months of every year sweltering in garments, oversized short sleeved shirts and capris pants.
A gift of ex-Mormonism...viva la skin!
