Just wondering,since the church proselytises so heavily,they must have at some point encountered the house of a gay married couple.

Supposing a couple was interested in learning about the church and didn't know the church's stance on them,would the missionaries still proceed with teaching them?

I pushed the issue with an online mishie.

He admitted that even if they were legally married, and I reminded him of the 11th article of faith, he said that, no, they would not be considered full fellowship.

I didn't even ask about being so-called "sealed".

Supposedly my middle brother converted a gay couple while on his mission in the San Jose region. He sincerely believed, "They might never marry women, but they'll never commit homosexual acts again!" as stated in his homecoming testimony. This was in the early 90s.

Come join our church. Oh, btw, you can't be married and you can't be living together.

...and not with anyone else you would probably be attracted to.

After pointing out that gay marriage was now recognized in many states, I asked, "Surely, the church wouldn't object to legally-married gay people sleeping with each other, would they?"

HT turned an interesting shade of eggplant-purple, but soldiered on bravely. He said something like, "Well, as far as I know, they haven't come out with a policy about this, but I imagine that it will all be sorted out eventually."

In other words, don't hold your breath. Maybe if they ignore it long enough, it will go away. . .

The church has no idea what its doing in regards to legally married gay people...

My Dad was talking with me a few weeks ago. He tried the line: The rules in the church are the same for everyone, whether they are gay or straight.

I said: So if I got married to a man, it would be okay if I had sex with him then?

He stood silent and then said: Okay maybe the rules aren;t always the same.

The thing is, it hasn't even crossed many TBMs minds that there are VALID gay relationships out there.

TBMs think gays are only with each other for wild orgies and impromptu sex...

Isn't that why everybody is intimate with someone else?

Not that I'd ever want to see gay Mormons in the fold or anything but isn't this an issue the church needs to come to terms with?

Heck there's even Black gay Mormon support groups out there.

You can't be happy in the Mormon church.
