Some excerpts from Lesson 24 of the 2008 Nursery Manual:

Doctrinal Instruction: "Explain that to follow the prophet
means to do the things he tells us to do."

Pictures: Show the picture of Joseph Smith...
*Have the children pretend to read the scriptures, and invite them to say, "Follow the prophet."
*Hand the picture to another child and repeat the activity...
*Continue until each child has had a chance to hold the picture.

Song: Invite the children to march around the room with you as you sing or say the words
to the chorus of "Follow the Prophet" (Children's Songbook,, 111):
*Follow the prophet, Follow the prophet,
*Follow the prophet; don't go astray,
*Follow the prophet, follow the prophet,
*Follow the prophet; he knows the way.
Invite the children to sing with you.
Repeat, allowing the children to take turns leading the marching.

Conclusion: "Tell the children that you know that when we follow the prophet, we will be blessed.
Have the children say, "I will follow the prophet," a few words at a time.

I know that TSCC starts to brainwash their members at an early age,
but for God's Sake, starting at 18 months to 2 years? WTF?
How sad and evil!

I wonder what the NY Times, Bill Maher and other national news outlets would say,
if anything, about this if they knew about it?

I heard my sister once brag about how indoctrinating the primary song book is. She was proud that young minds were being molded so forcefully by the music. Back when she was in primary it was "head shoulders knees and toes" and "popcorn popping". That stuff was way too frivolous.

"The profit said to plant a garden so that's what we'll do". Obedience, obedience, obedience. "Follow the profit, follow the profit, obey obey obey. The Dear Leader must be respected and obeyed.

My 4 year old has been attending church with my wife and just came home singing, "Follow the Prophet". There are few songs more offensive to me than that one (Praise to the Man being one of them).

The indoctrination sure starts young. When you're an adult and realize the horrible things the prophets have done over the years people act like you should have known all along. Then they refuse to confront their own indoctrination and instead end up indoctrinating another generation.

A few lessons I don't think you'll find in any other religious setting. That is, the ones that are uniquely Mormon.

Lesson 9, page 40ff, I Have a Body like Heavenly Father

Lesson 13, page 56ff, My Family Can Be Together Forever

Lesson 21, page 88ff, Joseph Smith Saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ

Lesson 22, page 92ff, The Book of Mormon Teaches Me about Jesus Christ

Lesson 24, page 100ff, I Will Follow the Prophet

Lesson 25, page 104ff, I Belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Lesson 28, page 116ff, Heavenly Father Blesses Me through the Priesthood
