I think I found the prop that is the only thing left holding up DH's shelf.

Personally, I believe JS plagiarized everything in the BOM

DH believes JS was a true prophet because of the speech in Mosiah that talks about defending home, and the slide into anarchy etc.

Can anyone point me to a source that he (JS) would have copied this from?

If I could find that, I am sure that would be the final straw for him.

Many thanks in advance.

the war stories, freedom speeches, etc. in the BoM might have come from The Late War:

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/faithpromotingrumor/2013/10/the-book-of-mormon-and-the-late-war-direct-literary-dependence/

"In sum, linguistic and narrative elements of the BoM are probably descended, at least in part, from Gilbert Hunt’s pseudo-biblical account of the War of 1812. The relationship between these two literary works is relatively strong, suggesting that the book had quite a memorable impact on Joseph Smith. But Smith did not borrow directly from the LW (at least for the majority of the narrative content) during the process of composing the BoM."

Also try the writings of Tom Donofrio:

His article "Book of Mormon Tories" is on a web page which cannot be named here - just Google the title.

His talk at the Exmormon Foundation conference is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w_kD3CghxQ

This isn't exactly what you asked for, but it might help. This was the deal-braker for me.

Many thanks! These give me something to research and hopefully it will work

I guess I will have to actually read Mosiah...so I will know first hand what it says.

I've been meaning to buy The Late War, but I hated to spend the money if it wouldn't make any difference.

Then I'll do a "stare and compare" and see what I can come up with.

Thanks again.

I second Richard's links. Tom Donofrio has assessed the exact issue your dh is stuck on.

The Late War is a free ebook available in a variety of formats. No need to purchase it unless you want a hard copy:

However, for the specific Mosiah issue, I think Tom Donofrio is a better resource.
