I love this forum. The only thing that frustrates me is when I post something or see someone else post something that isn't worded quite as well as it could be, and (even if the post has conversation-worthy content or a good point) they get a lot of critical comments on the problems with their post, but then when the OP clears up the confusion, everyone ditches the post.

It's not that there's anything wrong with correcting something, but if you want to correct someone's post, it would be polite to at least try to contribute to the conversation.

WCG, I was thinking about you today. We drank two bottles of really nice Californian wines, one red, one Moscato.

. . . like yesterday and today in a rapidly-filled-up thread on quantum mechanics and God, where the unclear-and-confused OP only made things worse--whereupon posters (including the original poster) started getting deleted for making foul-mouthed comments. It was truly a sight to behold.

Welcome to the wonderful, wacky world of RFM. :)

Do you see any grammatical errors in this sentence? I do...and I hate radishes! ;0)

I agree. I have been harassed my whole life by the punctuation Nazis. It didn't keep me from academic awards in both high school and college though. Hard to imagine, right?

Me too. I've known a few people who think it's there mission from God to correct pronunciation.....and on the rare occasion I'm feeling my oats, I'll mispronounce stuff just to irk them. My bad.

Autopsy, crime scene photos as well as porn have been posted. If you want to post a pic mail it to me and I will help you.

As to spelling, grammar, or anything else police THEY HAVE NO PLACE HERE. Posts like that are an auto delete. This is a place for people to come and talk, not English class.

As always, any questions, MAIL ExMoLight@gmail.com

Thank you, Susan I/S. I am very happy that you added that. Some people do well at the written language, and some people don't. I care about the feelings and ideas.

Asking for clarification is sometimes good. Critiques of punctuation and grammar only serve to discourage folks from posting.

YES! Pictures and the whole 1000 words thing. I love ex-mo memes and would love to see an approved way to share them here.

To open a post and see someone smeared all over a road. Or someone in the middle of an autopsy. Or be reading at work and have someone's crotch (or much worse) pop up on your screen.

Love carrots and radishes at our house. Had carrots last night, am checking the market for decent radishes Thursday and I firmly believe tomatoes are the worlds most perfect food :)

Another two months, and you can plant radishes. They're best when you grow them yourself :)

The forum is sorta like radishes. Some people love em in salads, and others like to eat them right out of the ground.
Some like to tell others how to eat them properly, others like to swear about radishes, those hateful red things, and on and on it goes.
The forum is a slice of reality - the real world. People hiding or people spewing. And some just carrying a bag of radishes in case they get hungry!

The forum is a slice of life: as is!

I get the urge to correct grammar and spelling, mostly because I have never participated much on an online forum. I used to be of the mind that online communities are destroying the English language by the short cuts (emoticons) and rampant grammatical and spelling errors.

My mind now be changed! (see?)

Sumtimz mie spill chiggerz broak (lemme know if'n ya figger that one out!)

So, Carrots Tomatoes and Radishes, I understand. If I got over it, others can, too. Adding to the conversation, however, can take many forms. Some of us are one-liners. I appreciate that form of humor!

What bugs me is how some posters are beyond mean to others. That, I feel is uncalled for.

I'm prone to acting as a grammar cop once in a while, but usually refrain. If a poster's spelling, syntax, or expression really does confuse the reader, then it has to be addressed. Respectfully, of course.

We need a "like" button.

As well as a "that sucks" button, as well as a "pull your head out of your @ss" button.

The only thing that kinda irks me is the neverending blatant sexism. You can take the misogynist out of the mormon church, but you can't always get the misogyny out of the man.

Yup, that's my biggest pet peeve on here, too. You would think that people would apply the same kind of critical thinking skills they used to leave TSCC to their misconceptions about gender and sexism.
