Not sure about that, but there used to be a charge of 1$ to receive a patriarchal blessing. Also, Bps and SPs also used to get paid. Bps = 8% of their tithing intake and SPs = 2% of the stake's intake. In today's money that would have been ~$60k annually for a bishops. SPs would have received ~$105k annually. This practice stopped around 1910. Source: Mormon Expositor podcast #75
